I've listed who I think are the obvious candidates.

Apologies for any glaring omissions.

I realise he didn't play VFL/AFL, but i thought a West Australian would at least mention Stephen Michael in that list somewhere

Yeah i know mate. He must have been some player, he appears to be spoken in the same way by Sandgropers as South Australians do about Robran.

Is Greg Williams of indigenous background? . I never knew that. Being 25 I probably would have to say Wanganeen, Mccleod, Matera and Goodes(on the strength of two brownlows) because I havent seen enough of Rioli, Farmer etc.

i didn't know about Williams either, although read it on that most credible of Footy sites, Big Footy a couple ofyears ago, lol.

Perhaps some of the more mature South/SANFL supporters on here could tell us what they thought of David Kantilla?

Stephen Micheal, best Indigenous player I've seen, with Michael Graham a close 2nd....

Where/when did you see him play am Bays?

Out of the players ive seen play... Adam Goodes or Andrew McLeod

Long, McLeod, Wanganeen and Goodes.

The greatest Is Polly Farmer that is the only one I have voted for he changed football with the handball.

Didnt see Polly play so left him out (although Im sure most who did would select him as THE greatest among that list).

So, I went for Rioli, Goodes, Matera and Wanganeen ... Found it difficult to leave McLeod out, but there's some great players there and some like Franklin that you would suggest probably should be one of the greatest by the time his days are up.

Yep, Diesel had an indigenous background, but although proud of such, didn't publicly embrace it as he thought it would hinder his career be it wrongly or rightly....

No room for Barry Cable?

From memory (years back now) Michael "Magic" Mclean was rated one of the greatest indigenous players

Yes, Cornesy and someone he was interviewing once said he was one of the best players to come out of WA and one of the best they have ever seen

I picked Farmer, McLeod, Goodes and Wanganeen out of the other but it's hard because it's such an amazing list of talent.

Chris Lewis wins "The dirtiest player" from that list.
