Something many have been saying on various internet forums for awhile now. Perhaps Vlad will crack the whip on something that could soon have us listening to decent commentary again. Bring back Bruce I say, still my favourite commentator.

REB

I must admit I don't mind the Brayshaw/Lyon/Taylor banter...altough I have never had to listen to them during a Crows game.

They say that Malcom Blight is too critical - I think he does a great job when he commentates, and he gives a great inside to how the coach may be thinking when he makes certain moves.

We all know that Malcom does and says what he wants most of the time (one example - Pittman).

Robert Walls probably tipped the Crows for the bottom 2 again this year. Typical Victorian scum, who doesnt exist outside his own shallow, shallow world!

Agree. People may find him grumpy/critical etc. but I think he is one of the most knowledgable commentators around.

Totally agree about Bruce REB. I heard a few months back that there may be a chance that 7 won't even ask him to commentate next year. As Leon would say, that will be an absolute outrage if that's the case.
What is it with Australian networks. Once you get past 50 they don't seem to wan't to have you on the box yet if you look at American sports coverage, their veteran commentators are looked upon in almost legendary esteem.

Obviously he is knowlegable - He has been involved in the game as a player & or coach for 25 years!

But his commentary is more bias than anything ive ever heard. Im enjoying listening to MMM on the net for afl games while im overseas. Even though, they dribble crap - they are usually even in their views during the match!

Lyon is a smug git who kissed Eddies arse for so long there wasn't any room on there for Eddie's wife. He continually bags coaching moves because he knows he is safe and sound and wealthy sitting in that soft comfy chair..you won't see Gazza put his hand up and put his reputation on the line. Lyon also loves giving it to the younger blokes but won't dare bag a big name.

Brayshaw is an annoying tryhard who always tries to spot so called 'trends' first because 9 out 10 football followers recognise him for the lightweight that he is. Not a lost cause like his pampered mate Lyon but needs to kick some goals badly. Everyone bagged Hudson last year but Hudson scored some big goals with a great call of Geelong's captiulation in Sydney last year (Huddo of course is a Cats fan).

BT. Pfft. Talks about himself every chance he gets. It might be ok for Ian Chappell and Dermott Brereton but WTF did Brian Taylor do (in comparison to those champions, not to fat old REB typing away on the keyboard at 7 in the morning LOL).

Sorry MW, Nine's coverage is a disgrace and the sooner those idiots lose the coverage the better. Just for a change, I have to disagree with you

REB

I don't think he would know how the average coach thought, just as no one else knew what he was thinking when he coached.

Spot on REB, I won't be missing these clowns next year.
You don't get any more self indulgent and pompous than this lineup.

For me, Jason Bennett and Clinton Grybas (both Fox Footy) do a very good job, knowledgeable and fine callers.

Only criticisms I have of Bruce is that he can be too stats-conscious and sometimes it feels that he's commentating for radio - we don't need every piece of play described. It's the old writing adage: 'show don't tell!'

Cometti is the biggest disappointment. Once the best caller in the game, now just a parody of himself. More interested in throwing in stupid one-liners, which, I'm afraid, aren't clever, nor are they witty.

Won't miss the blokey boofhead commentating at Nine and the likes of BT, Lyon, Brayshaw, Brownless et al.

Don't understand why Nine's Aussie Rules coverage is so bad because their league coverage is great. Sterlo is brilliant and Rabbits Warren always provides a chuckle. Gus Gould is Blighty with a bit more polish. Matty Johns obviously knows his stuff, too.

Also, when the game's on, they get serious and leave all the carry-on for The Footy Show and The Sunday Roast.
