Herald Sun Chief Football writer Mike Sheahan announced his retirement today in that role.

Does that mean he will retire from on the couch too? Shit I hope so.
Couldnt stand him and his opinions, reckon I could count on one hand the number of times I agreed with him (once was this season when Gerard "Demetriou" Healy was soo wrong with a free kick discussion)...
Kudos to him though, he had a job most of us would like to do in a heart beat!

Yeah he was a regular pain in the arse. Arrogant and never wrong. Thanks for the memories Mike but please leave us alone and vacate your spot on the couch.
If he does leave On the Couch who should take his place I wonder? Brian Taylor perhaps!

I didn't mind his views on the game, didn't agree with them but I could think of worse blokes to have in that seat.

He was a very very good journalist and very well respected within the game.
Not everyone agreed with his opinion but i for one say well done on a great career.

Good bloody riddance. Spent the last five years telling us that Geelong were going down. Only another 100 Hun journalists left to kiss Collingwood and Hawthorn's arse now. A very reactive journalist who changed his mind more often than the Fev downs a coldie. Another three duds will take his place.

REB

Give me Sheehan over Taylor anyday. BT is a bell end of the highest order.

Quite like MS and particularly his work on OTC .. If he were replaced by BT on that show I'd never watch it again.

Spot on. Best rear vision mirror in the business. But, at the same time, a decent writer.

On 5AA he said that he will still do his top 50 for the Herald Sun despite retiring from everything else he does.
