Roo mystery deepens

The mystery surrounding Adelaide skipper Mark Ricciuto's illness has deepened with the possibility the Crows' powerhouse has contracted the rare Ross River Fever.

Ricciuto is bed-ridden having first become ill at training last Saturday, which caused him to pull out of Sunday's showdown loss to Port Adelaide.

The Adelaide skipper told afc.com.auon Tuesday he did not know what was wrong with him.

“I’m not feeling too good and at the moment we don’t know why,” Ricciuto said.

“I’m still having a heap of (blood) tests and I don’t really know when I’m going to know any more.”

If Rucciuto does have Ross River, then not only is his season over, so is his career. Sure, sometimes a person can only suffer from the symptoms for a few weeks or a few months, but alot of the time, it's for a few years. It took my mother 3-4 years to get the disease out of her blood system, but, it'll forever be in her, and can comeback at anytime.

? How so?
I made no mention of his partner or pending birth.
I was also suggesting that the brain surgeons on Bigfooty would suggest something along those lines...

Nah, I'll just let intelligent people work it out.
Still don't know what S-D was getting at by mentioning his partner & the fact that they are about to have a child...

Just on Roo,

Im starting to gain more confidence that he will be back, if it was the big "G Fever" or "Ross River Virus" I am sure the club would of had those test results back by now, so it leaves me thinking that these two cripling virus may of been ruled out

If this is the case it could be good news

I too know of some one who suffered from Ross River, and it is an on-going battle to be fit and healthy,it seems when he does get back to some sort of normality he goes back down. The Crows, their fans and more importantly Roo would be devastated at such a set back.I admire this bloke and hope this isnt the case.

just to update previous post. the virus ( b 19 5th disease parvo virus) he has causes hands and feet to swell and joints to become stiff and sore.then a rash develops which seems to be the the beginning of the end of the infection. until the rash braeks out there is a very high risk of passing the infection on to anyone the individual comes into contact with.symptoms can last between 2weeks and 6 weeks. im not a doctor but caught it all on AA so it may not be 110% but at least we can end the speculation.
