He is very ordinary, constantly ducks his scone in overhead marking contests.

Shocking conditions for a marking forward last night

True, but I posted something similar last year in the offseason trade thread. Can't beleive the Dogs chased him so hard and then forked out so much coin.

34, 32 & 30 goals those years, hardly impressive.
And yes, Essendon are pretty average.

fairly stiff assessment...

first game for a new side and, like Q said, rubbish conditions.

give it a few weeks and we'll see how he's travelling. What he will do is give us another option going forward which we struggled for. now Jones will get the 2nd defender and Grant the third, changes the dynamic.

even if he does only kick 30 (i think it'll be more like 40) he will give other blokes more opportunites. Plus i reckon he'll play up the ground and work through the midfield at times too.

Crameri Dickson Dahlhaus

Cooney Jones Grant

+ Stringer Higgins Minson Gia

Decent mix of players for the dogs in the forward line, no superstars but you have to expect at least one of them to stand up each week and kick a few goals.

I dont mind the dogs forward set-up.

We saw with Collingwood / Geelong last year that 1 great forward just doesnt cut it, as too often your offesive movements are centred around that player, making it easy for defenders to predict.

If there is no standout forward, but 3 or 4 players that could do damage if let lose- then it changes the offensive plan, making it much harder to defend, with no particular forward commanding double teaming.

add to that a midfiled consisting of Libba (the best clearance player in the league), Boyd, Griffen, Stevens, Wallis with Cooney and Higgins rotating through plus all the young talent of Hunter, Macrae, Hrovat. All being fed by Big Minno AND we killed the highly fancied (for the spoon) Saints by 13 Lance Franklin kicks for goal and we're surely Flag favourites!!! Get on the dogs!!!

Happy to see Crameri go, wasnt worth what he wanted. If Joey learns to kick he should be able to atleast match Crameri's output over the last 3 years.

Probably not from what I've seen.
Preseason form is so indicative of where a team is headed.
In fact, I'm hopping off now. Won't make finals, Scott will be sacked before mid season, Brayshaw replaced, club relocated to Broome and to be known as the "Sweepers".

All this I've ascertained on two scratch matches.
