Agreed, sounds like he wants to be offered a job, not the opportunity to present for a job.

Did the same with Carlton last year too apparently. I think he believes he is above it all and just wants someone to practically beg him for the job

To be fair, it would want to be a f..king good offer to leave the cushy media roles he has

I've been hoping he gets a role so I don't have to hear him butcher the word "Curnow" anymore.

Blight was an attacking coach. Ross is a toss, dour and unimaginative.

If you can guide the two most historically inept clubs to grand finals you can obviously coach, but Ross has an ego the size of the MCG.

100% agree.

If it wasn't for the style of play Ross brings he would be held in a much higher regard.

Funnily enough if things had gone differently for him on GF day twice he would be regarded as one of the games greatest coaches.

My opinion has always been you should judge a coach on his ability to get the team to a GF......what happens on the day has so many variables that you cant really judge a persons ability because of it eg ball bounces differently for Milne and Ross is a St Kilda all time legend etc etc.

By who? Us or the ones that run clubs?

I don't think that there is too many blokes alive that would be more sought after than Ross for an AFL coaching role.

Take Clarko, Scott, Longmire, Dimma and Goodwin out of the equation from the current coaches, then you'd haver Chocco and Roos ahead of him as first choices then he'd be somewhere around that mark.

There's pretty slim pickings atm, FWIW, I think McRae and Longmuir will be highly regarded in 10-15 years time, there will also be a lot of coaches that will always be bridesmaids out of the ones we've seen in the past 6 years.

I think in general fans under rate Lyon because of the style.

Agree that clubs would look deeper than that and appreciate him.

I would have Lyon ahead of Roos. I know Roos has the record but Sydney had a massive leg up with COLA in those days. Throw in Lyons ability to do it at two clubs from two different states and that puts him right up there for me.

Perhaps with several women on our board Ross wasn’t keen for any “digging” that would be required as part of the selection process ;)

If Port get Josh Carr, will they adopt the Crows '19th Man' slogan?
