Talk on the national game

Essendon

What a year 2013 was eh?? Will the on-going supplement saga continue into 2014 or will the Bombers be out to prove something this year that they will not let the dramas affect them? Will not winning a pre-season game do any harm to the season 2014? Especially with a hard opening fixture against North Melbourne.

Going to be tough but for a few other reason. You are down Bellchambers and lost Crameri. 2 big men and the forward line needs young Daniher to fire. Its a big ask.

But in saying that Ryder cam hold his own im the ruck and your midfield is good so I think you could be around the mark but it will come down to depth on the end. A few injuries and its all over.

Yeah I know what you're saying. We've always lacked a consistent forward who can bag 45 -60 goals. We always rely on the small forwards or midfielders to get the goals. Hopefully by recruiting chappy, he can help us out in that area. Hoping he stays fit though. Will be very interesting to see how the team goes with Bomber at the helm.

Hird must have the biggest EGO ever (maybe he is a skyhooks fan !!), one suspects if he has been sacked he would take legal action as he is always innocent. Are Essendon supporters sick of Hird putting himself ahead of the club ?

I think most of the fans are sick of him. If he is innocent as he claims then he needs to step aside and fight it in court. The board should of made the decision months ago, either shut up, serve your time and start fresh or go and fight it in court. Id imagine the AFL will be leaning on the club pretty hard now to sack him

As I had mentioned in the SAAFL Div 6 forum. Hirdy's missus has just re-opened a sour jar of pickles and landed him in deep s**t again. Why couldnt he just accept the punishment ( got off lightly I thought ) and move on.
Lets just get on with it so the board can decide on who to coach us long term and take us to our next premiership. In my thoughts, keep Bomber Thompson on and go from there.
Is it definate?

She is a very smart and successful lawyer, doubt she would be commenting unless she had reason.
Im all for the Hird's having their day in court and bringing down others just dont do it whilst we are paying for it or get the club involved. Hird needs to be removed from the club and then he can do what he likes

Even though she might be a lawyer and be a successful one. Is she a lawyer in this particular field? Why say something now once the punishment has been given out? Why not come forward when they had the chance? I guess we will never know. But I think you're right in saying he needs to step down gracefully and let the club move forward. No one is bigger than the club. Not even the greatest players of all time are bigger than the clubs they played or play for.

I'm surprised the Bombers have supported Hird for so long when most other clubs would have cut him loose long ago.

The time has now come for the cord to be cut.
