Stokes has been playing pretty average footy this year. nowhere near the impact of previous seasons

Hats of to both blokes on very good Career's. Kelly was always a favourite of mine and was underrated in his prime as he was a seriously good player.

Johnson will be told he's no longer required and will sadly go to another club probably but it's his choice. Hopefully Boris stays as he has still been quite good but he will get to choose i think.

Been told by a good source that Stevie J was told today he has no future at the club and should retire or face the axe

I hope all the boys retire this year. In a perfect world, they would all announce their retirements this morning, get all the plaudits from the media they deserve and play their final game at Geelong this weekend and make it a celebration of their great careers. They deserve better than being told they're done at the end of the year and missing out on that opportunity to say goodbye to the supporters. They looked very slow Friday night and I'd hate to see them struggle next year and have people remember them for their last year of footy and not their great years of footy. They deserve better than that. That's my opinion anyway.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Fair turn over of players. Kelly, Johnson, River, Macintosh, Stokes and maybe Enright.

Yes and no. MacIntosh and Stokes have offered nothing and Rivers has been a bit player at best.

Kelly and Johnson are the only two, IMO, who a year more would be one too many. Enright and Mackie should go on, Bartel might make up his own mind and pull the pin.

Bartel plays on

Stevie J as mentioned hass been told to go.

If Johnson signs at another club for two years it will be a bigger mistake than Chapman going to Essendon.I understand these blokes want to get as much as they can out of themselves, but after a few flags, champion playing career, why tarnish peoples memories with a token year or two where you play 15-18 games?

Johnson looked frustrated at the start of this year, couldn't bend down, fumbled and it was probably a sign of a poor injury interrupted preseason, but is he really capable of lifting to another level with the rest of the competition next year? Every year the game gets faster, more demanding, when you're the other side of 30 I'm sure keeping up is hard enough, let alone getting faster again.

I think he is a crafty enough small forward that if he has a good injury free pre-season he is good enough to hold his spot in most sides

If he plays on, it will remind me of Brereton's end-of-career appearances at Sydney and Collingwood.

If Johnson goes on, he should stay at Geelong, needs to go on the lowest possible contract and play at the feet of Hawkins all next season. I got no doubt, barring injury he would kick 35-45 goals as a small forward. Play a similar role to what Gia played at the dogs.

spot on. I'm not sure why a lot of clubs are flipping their 30+ players now.

A forward line of

Johnson, Hawkins, Vardy
Menzel, Clarke, Cockatoo

It looks a lot better with Johnson in it.

200 odd thousand a year, thats why.

Cant blame a bloke who gets fired but doesnt want to retire yet to see alternative employment

Most people within the industry seem to believe that Stevie J could be an absolute wiz in the coaches box. Should he move into a coaching role when his playing days are done, you would think it would be in his and Geelong's best interests, for him to commence away from Kadinia Park. So to that extent, he should probably work a deal with a new club that allows him to play for 1 or 2 seasons, then slip into an assistant coaching role for a couple of years. And I reckon thats exactly what will happen.
