Well Mrs Jase took me out for the day, went to the movies (saw Rocketman) and didn't see a second of today's game...

I will now be going to the movies every Carlton game and that means we might make the finals...

Mate it started out like every other game.
Brisbane killed us in the 1st quarter.

After that it was great to watch.
Cripps was magnificent.
Both Curnow’s and Kruezer were good too.

All played well finally.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Cripps is an absolute beast. Really impressed by Walsh and Casboult in the backline too. Daisy Thomas is providing some value as well. Funny how teams seem to click when the coach gets the arse.

Carlton Football Club and Jarrod Pickett have made the decision to mutually part ways.

Pickett and the club have been in ongoing discussions regarding his motivation to continue playing at the high level, with a decision made it would be in the best interests of the club and Pickett to part ways.

The Blues will continue to support the 22-year-old as he transitions back home to Western Australia to be closer to family, with the club to continue to provide rehabilitation on his injured knee.

Without casting aspersions are clubs not putting enough time and money into the young indigenous lads?

I would guess clubs are fully prepared for the unique challenges young indigenous kids face when moving interstate, however, regardless of the support networks in place some will simply find adjusting too hard.

Having said that, non indigenous kids leave for their home state regularly, some kids will handle it, some won't.

Sometimes I wonder if it's more that they sail through the underage stuff and it all comes easy, then get a serious wake up call when they reach the big leagues.. some dont know how to respond.

Obviously though some clubs are better than others at engaging all their youth, especially the aboriginal lads - Port & Adelaide both seem to do a tremendous job and have a good support network in place.. other clubs, like Carlton well who knows, but I get the impression more players fall away at the Blues than elsewhere.

Was Justin Murphy their last long term indigenous player?

Yarran, Garlett, Betts all moved away in recent years.

Or were pushed.

Ed & Charlie Curnow are indigenous. Andrew Walker is another long termer.

But I do agree, I think there is something in that line of thinking.

It's distorted as Carlton's long reign down the bottom part of the ladder sees them get a lot more noticeable recruits, and possibly more recruits full stop.

I know I'll get shot down for this but I think there should be a weighted draft, kids should have some say in where they end up.

Perhaps at 14 or 15, every kid in the system regardless of skill level nominates a preferred club, maybe even 1-3.

I know it's a profession now, but we all get to pick and choose where we're employed to some degree, here we are taking 18 year olds from their families and plonking them on the other side of the country with strangers that they HAVE to just get to know, all the educating in the world wouldn't make it any easier.

Since 2010 only 3 players have played more than 100 games - Henderson (102), Curnow (123*) and Tuohy (120)... 57 players less than 50 games.

Actually come to think of it, what club would currently have the longest finals drought (Apart from Gold Coast)?
