I'm a bit too however Cripper is young to have the captaincy thrust upon him full time. If it was just on field duties, then yes. However I think the role of captain these days is on field, media and then all the sponsorship/coterie commitments. I think he's too young to have that sole responsibility, so I'm glad Docherty can assist moreso off field/media.

Also remember that Docherty was an assistant coach this season, so the natural progression for a player is to be part of the leadership group or become captain when eligible.

Neither was Murph!

Cripps did well on field. Docherty did well in the media this season, so it seems to be a decent fit. Let's just hope Doc stays fit.
