So with both Adelaide clubs declaring they want a womens team when the league starts in 2017 its gonna to be real interesting to see who gets it.

Both teams firing shots with Crows annoucing former Thunderbirds coach Jane Woodlands-Thompson as an advisor last week then we see today Erin Phillips donning to Power gear and annoucing she is the clubs first player if they can get a team.

1990 all over again ;)

Female football talent here is significantly behind the rest of Australia. Fielding one competitive team, let alone two will be an issue.

Fair enough too, let it learn to crawl, walk and then run.

I think it's great, the standard of women's football has really excelled over the years and if they can generate a team from each state and possibly two from Victoria it will grow legs, I wouldn't over-do it though if I was coordinating it.

Yes, the comp will only be 8 teams at this stage by the sounds of it with only 1 SA based club to be given a license. I think about 9 Vic clubs are trying to bid for one of the 5 or 6 spots also

I got to a hand full. Have connections to many that play.
The standard is getting better, but compared to Victoria & WA we are a long way behind.
At the Women's Championships, SA has competed in the div 2 competition at senior level & failed to trump that competition.

Could that be a reason why they are going for elite sportswomen from other codes? To lift the standard

Interesting, Morphies and West Adelaide are very advanced and have a decent spread of talent across the field where Greenies have some great players, but not enough of them.

How do the rules with female involvement differ here than interstate? With many females having to quit at the age of 13 here, was that the case in Vic and WA?

In the past the SA nation womens team has struggled against Victoria when there were some games played. We are in fact some way behind, hence would think the AFL will start with one team in SA for that reason.
