The Age reports that Garry Lyon is apparently undergoing treatment for a serious mental health condition. Appears to be linked somehow to a personal falling out with Billy Brownless.

For those who can muster the strength to turn it on of a Thursday nigh, Lyon won't host the Footy Show, so Brayshaw will take the reins indefinitely. Ugh. Watch the ratings plummet. Will also be absent from Footy Classified.

Pity, he's one of the more affable and down-to-earth media personalities in the AFL media sphere IMO. Still retains a bit of likable knockabout blokiness, but is not a total jock ex-player dimwit, can string some words together and has some worthwhile opinions.

If Brayshaw is the host, my 20 year following of that show is now officially and completely over. It was much better when Eddie hosted it anyway.

I also feel that the FS has overstayed its welcome a bit, it's a pretty tired format. I used to find Sam Newman quite amusing, but now he's just a cranky old man with the occasional crackpot rant. I always thought that a rival network could broadcast a show in direct opposition which had a bit of humour, but also some serious footy discussion with the right combination of hosts and guests, would beat the pants off it.

If the rumours about Lyon's multiple issues are true he won't be back in the public eye anytime soon.

I heard the daughter rumor today at cricket.

no idea if the rumours are true or not, but I think its rough to say he is "hiding" if he has a mental health issue. thought we were past that in this day and age.

Has been reported by the Herald Sun not long ago that Lyon was involved with Billy's ex

I suspect Mental health issue is now being used to create privacy and IF thats the case it stinks that they use that when there is people out there with real issues.
Lets face it Bill and Gary are highly unlikely to of had a falling out because Gary has mental health issues, The rumours would have to be very close to the mark

i understand your sensitivity as to who your wife may sleep next with if you were to ever break up

but the couple are no longer together, billy has zero rights or choosing preference as to who she does bang next. if billys brother wants to have a dip he has full rights, if billys mate wants to have a crack, she is completely available to take such attention

it happens on home & away all the time

gary losing his job because he wanted to try that cake in the window is ridiculous. he is as free to do as the next man. its billy that has to harden up and get over it and if he wants to whinge and sook then he should be leaving the footy show not gary

Hasn't he left the show because of a mental breakdown?
Don't think Billy forced him to leave as he isn't going to be on the show either. Lyon has quit his other media jobs on TV and radio also
