Ability is needed but luck is also. If they were a bit unluckier they could hve ended up nowhere (even though thats still a chance anyway).

Same happened to us a few years ago winning a lot of close games and got smashed in the finals.

Correct, you don't want to be top 4 based on luck. If you are, you've probably run out of it by September.

The North stats are wrong. It should read 9 wins & 10 losses.
(North have won 1 under a goal & lost 5)

shows how bad the draw can be. an extra 1 or two games against top eight could mean the difference between 4th and 9th this year

Yep, but it can never change with this amount of teams. I think eventually they will add a couple more sides and then everyone plays everyone once, home one year away the next

What is that as a percentage of free kicks given?

Ie if it's 1% or something then it hardly matters. (It's going to be more than that though)
