When a player appeals and loses, they run the risk of an increased penalty.. does that mean if the AFL appeals and loses, they run the risk of the player getting less games?

No.

Ok. :D

Think he will get the 4 that was suggested by the AFL legal team

5 (maybe 4) down to 3 I reckon. That would be a bit of a win-win-win scenario.

- AFL gets the initial penalty they see fit
- MRP get's vindication for their 2 week reduction
- Tiges and Houli should still be happy with only 3

Agreed. Three it will be which it should have been all along, and some lawyers are going to get their fill out if it too.

Just lol

"What he's convicted of is not an intentional strike to the head, but an intentional strike, resulting in contact to the head" - Houli representative Michael Tovey:

On the striking action
"If he did it another 50 times, you couldn't have got the same result of knocking a person out." - Houli representative Michael Tovey

How does a legal rep deal in such hypothetical's? Surely those comments are discounted

Because he was guilty and that's what he deserved?

Everyone who isn't white can't do something wrong now?

That's not what he's saying, all he's saying is that if Houli was an honest white christian, (and didn't get that slime Waleed Aly in as a character reference) then you'd probably find more people would likely agree that 2 games was ample.

How many games would Dusty Martin have got, and how many would the Australian public be screaming for? Remembering he's a fan favorite, puts bums on seats and a fav for the Brownlow..

It's not about racism to me, but people do have natural bias towards others - you'll gravitate towards and sympathise more with like minded/same type people.

But before Waleed and Malcolm got involved I thought it was 4.

You're all reading too much into it. It wss four games from the start regardless of race or religion. MRP f..ked it up and the appeal fixed it.

Will Schofield beats the tribunal, but succumbs to hip injury. Should've just taken the week.

Because he belted someone in the head with an elbow with a striking motion, with high impact which happened to knock someone out cold... Which any other player doing the same thing regardless of colour, race, religious affiliation would have got 4 weeks as well...

No it's not that, it's because everyone who thinks he should have got 4weeks originally is a racist...

Yep...

Not often the AFL gets credit on here for getting something right but I reckon they're pretty close here.
I thought 5-6 down to 4-5 for his good record was about the mark, we all know that 2 was laughable.
He spoke well and said all the right things afterwards so let's all move on.
Anyone suggesting anything other than commonsense was at play here needs more in their life to keep them occupied.

I should just add as a caveat to my previous comment...

4weeks is right unless you are a superstar of the League and then you can get away with murder... :)
