Not the end of the world if he goes. But I think he has been exceptional for us. Rate him very highly

Seems a little strange because he is in career best form. Maybe he is peeved at being snubbed for All Australian, must have been very close to getting in the squad of 40 as a tall defender. Doubt he would have got in the final 22 ahead of Rance and Hurley, but I reckon he is the next best tall defender in the comp.

Do you call a press conference for a guy like Grundy to announce a contract? Not sure...

If it is retirement, it's a bit premature I would have thought.

Crameri on the outer at the Bulldogs, wouldn't mind Port having a look at him for a year or two.

Dixon and Marshall look set to be the keys going forward and someone like a Crameri would add something as the third marking forward.

Trengove is on the outer, the Bulldogs need talls, might be an easy exchange.*

*Yes, Trengove is a free agent

I'm not sure WB would give Crameri up with Cloke probably even more on the outer

Wasn't Crameri injured a lot of this year? Why would Port take that risk when Trengrove seems to be "sound"
July 11th 2012....

Trengove is an out of contract free agent and at this point the club has yet to offer him a new deal, he's played the last 4 games in the SANFL. Make of that what you will.

Clurey, Jonas and Howard have all been playing ahead of him in defence, Marshall came in ahead of him to play forward despite Trengove kicking 4 and 3 in the two weeks prior in the SANFL and Hombsch and Eddy are both in the SANFL as depth with Austin capable or playing both ends.

He's not as important as he once was and has lost currency because of this.
He is currently one of the highest paid at Port and if Port do offer him a contract it will be significantly less.

Probably a win for both parties if he does leave.

Was top few for pay about 2 years ago, would have dropped away at the back of this deal I imagine, but yes, would be a fair pay cut I would think.

Crameri had hip issues for the last year and a bit but it got that bad he had to have surgery. Big risk for any club IMO

He's still your highest paid defender and not in the team currently so it doesn't look good for him.

What coin and length of contract would you offer if any?
2 year deal at $450k?

Bit of a loss for the Cats :

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-31/a ... ps-manager

GEELONG football manager Steve Hocking will be appointed to the critical role of AFL football operations manager on Thursday.

The 52-year-old has led the Cats football department since the end of 2014 after the departure of Neil Balme, following a short stint in commercial operations at the club.

He has been a key member of the club's football department during its run of three premierships in five years between 2007 and 2011 and Chris Scott's right hand man in recent times.

Hocking also played 199 games for the Cats as a rugged back pocket and is regarded as one of the game's best operators.

He will face an overhaul of the game's Match Review Panel system and questions around the future of the centre bounce in his first months in the job.

Hocking will also need to make a decision on the extension of free agency as promised in the latest CBA.

He would be expected to finish up at the Cats at the end of the finals series, with Geelong sitting in second spot and preparing to play a qualifying final against Richmond on Friday night.

The Cats are anticipating an important trade period, with Suns champion Gary Ablett hoping to return to the club and Giants' Devon Smith and Jacob Hopper on the club's radar.

The AFL was forced to search for a replacement for Simon Lethlean when he resigned after just four months in the role following Mark Evans' departure to the Gold Coast.

Having a think about this new week off before the finals system. Does it disadvantage the 2 qualifying final winners any more than the SANFL minor premier if they win their semi final.
