whufc wrote:The biggest worry I saw from Port was there lack of ability in the contested mark.
Bruce, McCartin, Riewoldt, Robertson, Carlisle and Membrey were taking pack marks with ease at both ends of the ground (31 marks between them)
I'm not sure you can just get better in that ability overnight and if u can't defend the pack mark your in serious trouble is that is generally all teams defensive plan to have the ball kicked to a contest

I don't think Lobbe, Ryder and Trengrove all play in the same side.
I think Monfries doesn't start but will be decent cover, I'd still have him ahead of Neade and Amon. Agree with BD above in regard to Atley I like the look of him but IMO 18months off. I don't mind Clurey but I just think Bonner really needs games in to him I think he'll be a gun. and for me Sam Gray simply fumbles to much. Not totally convinced on Eddy as yet, Yep he did a couple of good things last night has footy smarts and we all know you cant teach that.

I think the three tall backs at Austin, Hombsch and Jonas. Two smalls, Pittard and Hatlett demand spots, I think DBJ and Bonner fight for the other spot with Broadbent and Hartlett both midfield/backs.
Mine :
DBJ Austin Jonas
Hartlett Hombsch Pittard
Ebert Wines Westhoff
Young Trengove Impey
Gray Dixon Krakouer
Ryder, Boak, Wingard
Int - Bonner, PP, Amon, Broadbent

- The standard of the game was absolute shithouse. 1st hit out maybe? Who knows
- Saints ran and spread in the 1st half was awesome, On the flip side of that when did port gain possession (very rare in the first term) it seemed the players dead set had concrete boots on, No movement what so ever. It was mark, go back kick over the mark down the line standard shit, No risk taking and breaking lines very ordinary ball movement and terrible skills.
- With out knowing any of the stats it seemed like we didn't win a clearance at all! The saints at stoppages were all on the move and Port players reminded me of fielders in the old board game test match.....
- Port players must hate Charlie Dixon, Dixon has been a whipping boy on here by plenty of blokes, Maybe his price tag or maybe just trolls I don't know but what I do know is, Kicking off one step and bombing on his head is simply not going to work he isn't Wayne Carey but Jesus I wish we'd help the bloke out a bit with delivery.
- Going in to the game I was interested to see Hartlett as indicated in a prior post and whilst he didn't get a lot of the footy, Hartlett's work rate and pressure was great and again with out knowing the stats I would say he would've topped the tackle count he did work hard.
- Powell-Pepper looks a ready made player strong, smart and smooth very much in the Ollie Wines mould.
- If Sam Gray can not become a '1 Touch' footballer he simply cant play in that side, Fumbles way to much.
- Man buns, F#@k me dead, Why just why.............
To be completely honest I actually fear how we might fare this year, I absolutely love Port Adelaide but on last night's performance I believe were in the 9th to 12th range seriously hope I'm wrong tho, Can Robbie Gray, Broadbent and Darcy make that much difference?

Because he has no interest in going to another level and wants to sit around goals.
Not my words, words of current Senior Port Player.

That comment is total crap! As if players get to choose. Wingard would play in the back pocket and still dominate without complaining.
