But I do agree that cameron should have got a week. Anything behind the ball and graded as intentional conduct should be a week minimum, no matter what the impact is graded as

I agree with trying to outlaw the sling tackle, but in these two cases:

- Lynch was primed to be dumped due to his balance being out whilst trying to kick the ball in the tackle

- Wilson had a hand free and could have released the ball and used the hand for protection when hitting the ground

As unfortunate as they were, imho, they are aspects that were beyond the control of Waite and Stevens.

All the rule changes in the world are never going to completely eradicate accidental concussions or other forms of injury.

Great post.

yeah good post. It would be really hard as a player to control your actions in those circumstances. As others have said though, the AFL are really erring on the side of caution here given the issues in the US, and if there is one way to err that is probably the correct way in this case

With a bye and a state game thrown in. So really 5 weeks. Won't be available until round 13

Two weeks in a row now players have kicked out at opponents yet not even been sighted.
Last week Polec kicked out at his Lions opponent whilst lying on the ground - barely a mention.
This week Tom Hawkins actually made contact & kicked his Suns opponent causing him to go to ground - nothing.
Lucky no one was concussed I guess.

Please tell me if the AFL are so hell bent on "protecting" players from concussion re "sling tackles" why 2 other instances on Saturday went by the wayside, not even sighted. Walker on Hansen & Crouch on Atley. Surely if the AFL are serious, then all sling tackles get punished, not just the ones where players get concussed.

One more question.
If Lynch isn't concussed, is Waite still sighted?

Yes you are clueless about this issue to make frivolous comments comparing avoidable concussions with someone taping another player with their foot.
Send through the videos of those incidents - Walker on Hansen & Crouch on Atley. I can't even remember them and no one in the media is talking about them.

The travesty...

I understand that was his only "possession" for the game.

Another good stat for the 2017 season to follow on from the weekend, where all lower ranked teams won in the same round for the first time since 1975.

The current bottom 7, at least 1 side has featured in 20 of the last 24 Grand Finals.

To me they are slightly different. Crouches is less of a throwing/dumping motion and more of a spinning motion

But it's hard to deny they are pretty similar
