AFL Round 11

Talk on the national game

Hawthorn need to be more attacking, there so slow and stagnant. Need more players forward of the footy and just take the game on. They dont have the ability to play precision footy by foot anymore. Might make them lose by more but you would rather see them having a go then playing like this.

Thought that earlier too then wondered if they were just permanently stuck in damage control mode

are port even playing tonight?

The way the commentators are talking, Hawthorn are playing themselves. Everything is about how bad they are doing, or "full credit to them" because they have outscored them in the second half

The era is over, the commentators cant let go!

How did any non-Port/Hawthorn supporter watch this entire game? (Myself included)

Port have been UTTERLY PATHETIC in the 2nd half

Cant believe all this garbage about them being Premiership contenders!

Port are the SHITTEST kicks for goal in the comp.

Incapable of burying teams when they have the chance.

Could only imagine Adelaide would have smoked Hawthorn by 20 goals + if they led 41 - 0 at Qtr time

Port have done that a few times IIRC, blown team away early then let them get some respectability back on the scoreboard. Hawks only kicked 6 less goals

Brad Ebert 12 Tackles for the match, anyone know the record?

Robbie Gray on the other hand....

Bruce can't let go. Lucky cyril wasn't playing. It would have been even more unbearable

Amazing that all the records are recent for tackles. Think a tackle was graded harsher in the old days, but the pressure and emphasis on tackling is a lot higher than it was pre-2000.

I dont know they weren't great after half time. Certainly put the cue in the rack. But then again when your 60 points up at half time and the other side has kicked 3 points, you can probably do that.

Hawthorn, while now under manned, are still a proud club who were always going to bounce back and Clarkson readjusted his plan, a little.

Thank F*** they did, I had Port 40-59 @ 4.80, I didn't bother watching after half time.

80 pressure Acts a game (tackles, Shepherds/blocks, smothers, chases, spoils etc combined) used to be the benchmark for a win. Carlton was the first team to really look at this stat and it was one of their KPIs in their 95 premiership season. Heard Parkin talk about this at a Sports conference in Melbourne in 96. Pagan was a VERY interested audience member....

Now it's not uncommen to get 80 tackles a game
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
