750k for 5? Even better luck to him then lol. Is he a free agent or will this need a trade?

$1 million in his first year as well with the deal being front loaded. Talks of St.Kilda's pick 4 being involved in a 3 way trade. Rankine to Port?

I like Polec, I think he has been very good 'THIS YEAR' but, if Polec is a million dollar a year player (Front end loaded or not) the game is f**ked........

Can't imagine him or similar wingman getting that much in a year!

Polec has had patches in '16, '17 and '18 that have been very, very good. He's strung together 4 or 5 week runs of top level outside running form, then as with all outside players they get marked closer, they don't get the space and the game looks difficult for them.

He kicks the ball twice as often as he handballs it, meaning he finds space and uses his left foot to effect ( he has no right foot, at all, he runs on a stump ) and he's shaken off the injury cloud that was once hanging over him.

To say he's not worth $750k a year is true, but North have got lots of money to spend, nobody wants to take it from them and eventually someone will.

FWIW, he's not one we can afford to lose, we lack outside running power now.

Polec fills a need for us and we have the cash so its a good get if we can make it happen, remember we are not far from the average AFL wage being $450k so paying $200-$300k over that isn't huge for someone who could assist us in our rise to contender

He isnt the player I would be happy to pay 'Overs' for.

Cotch signed on till 2022.

Jack signs last week, Rance earlier in the year to go with Dusty last year. Seems to me we're getting our big guns signed up long term to enable us to find room & make the big off season signing of Lynch.

If they know we've got Lynch signed up wouldn't even surprise me if Jack & Cotch signed on with slight pay cuts to help the club land him.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Contracts don't mean diddly anymore even long term ones.

If the club can grab a younger future star player and have to offload an older star they won't hesitate.

And by the way, Lynch won't be at punt road.
He'll be nearby though!

how exactly is the game ****** just because people get paid for playing it?

players are worth what others are prepared to pay too. so if he gets an offer that he cant refuse, good luck to him. its their livelihoods too.

to me it seems like a lot of coin for a wingman (other than maybe gaff) but that doesn't mean the game is ******

I just did the ladder predictor and reckon it comes down to this game...

If Melbourne beat GWS, Melb 7th, Geel 8th, Port 9th

Only if Port win one, Melbourne's %age is much better than ours. Melbourne won't win another game.

They are talking about the decent Tom Lynch.

I still don’t get the hype with the ’better’ Lynch.
Admittedly I haven’t seen him play much but what I have seen doesn’t suggest he’s a superstar.

I’d rather Cameron, C. Curnow or even Hogan over him.

Curnow maybe. Not the other two. Cameron is good but doesn't appear to be very disciplined or team focused. Hogan is just horrible don't get the fuss. A big guy who sits at the foot of a pack waiting for the crumbs like Jeff Gartlett.
