Polec - Is a loss, we don't have a like for like replacement for him on our list, we need to bring in some outside run and carry. This year was the first year he'd not been dropped for insipid efforts, I think what we offered was reasonable, what North have offered was irresistible, off he goes.

Pittard - No loss for mine, never had confidence in him and Houston, Bonner, DBJ are all younger and ahead of him, Hartlett, Broadbent and young Garner coming back from injury or developing, someone like a Johnson could go back if needed, depth in this area. Can't for the life of me work out why the **** we are paying some of his wage. Perhaps he's on more than we all know and $200k is just a portion of his deal? ( ie we're saving $300k plus? ) ****** if I know.

Hombsch - He would know he's down the pecking order, Howard and Clurey well ahead of him in the key posts, Jonas and Lienert ahead of him as the third/fourth tall.

Hombsch / Pittard, I've felt for a while we've had too many half backs flankers on our list, I don't mind balancing the list up a bit more.

Wingard - This ones up to Chad, he needs to decide where he's wanting to play his footy. If he's packed it in because Hinkley roasted him in the exit meeting then so be it. My gut feel, he stays for 2019.

Amon - Never made it into the side with any regularity, really disappointed me this year, I had him as one to watch improve and cement a spot. 4th rounder at best for him, or future 3rd rounder father/son points only.

________________________________________________________

Lycett - Hinkley made it clear, and I fully supported him here having seen enough of them play, that neither Frampton or Ladhams were ready for AFL duties when Ryder went down, Frampton given the last game of the year, contracted for 2019, Ladhams out of contract, most likely gone with Lycett coming in and Hayes highly rated. Lycett sures up our ruck stock for the next 5 years as either Frampton or Hayes come on. Very happy with his signing, releases Ryder forward more and might prolong his career a year or more.

Picks 10, 11, 23, 30, 49, 84

With Polec, Pittard, Thomas, Toumpas, Irra, Ladhams*, Barry* off the list we may keep Trengove and or McKenzie as back half back up.

If we can trade 10 and 11 into the top 3 and get a Rozee or Rankine I'll be happy, both of them look like absolute stars. 23 and 30 should still get some quality and if Wingard moves I'd expect another top 10 pick.

Right now I'd think we're down, only marginally as I rate getting Lycett in, on the deals we've done but a top 5 pick and one of the young SA guns will bring it back to even keel for mine, maybe just behind.

Carlton have set the bench marks on being called a "rebuild", this isn't a rebuild but seems like an admission last years sortie was a failed one given we didn't play finals in 2018. I feel like we're going to get stuck in the 6th (all going well) to 12th (all going poorly) bracket for the next few years.

Let's all be clear, Carlton have set the bench mark for rebuilds, what Port, heck even Geelong and Essendon are doing isn't rebuilding, it's topping up to try and avoid a rebuild.

Things have changed overnight.... Below from Mitch Cleary

Pick swap about to go down between Fremantle and Port Adelaide.
Will leave Power with Fremantle's pick 6 and give the Dockers either 10 or 11 and a pick in the 20s. Plus other later selection changes.
Will help unlock pursuit of Hogan/Lobb.
Details @AFLcomau shortly.

10 and 23 ( or something else ) for 6 and I'm in, especially if we can hold onto 11.

Lukosius, Walsh, Rankine, Rozee, Smith, King x 2.

6 will get you one of them, 11 might get you another. I'm in.

I think Rankine falls to 6 as well if we end up keeping 6. Or are we going to on trade that to GC for 3 in the Hombsch deal?

I don't think Hombsch holds that much currency anymore. If GC did 6 and Hombsch for 3 I'd take that, assures us one of the SA boys.

Definitely one of them, I’d be surprised if it gets two of them. Seems a pretty clear cut top 7-8

Everything you read/hear from the Suns seem to suggest they are taking Lukosius and Rozee.
Pick 6 gives Port a huge chance of Rankine, wonder if the Crows will try to get the Saints pick 4 somehow?

Think he does for a club like GC - he's a ready made AFL player who would slot straight into their best 22.

Port receive 6 and next years 3rd from freo

Fremantle get 11 23 30 & 49

Well played freo

One pick becomes 4

Port have picks 6 & 10 now and that’s it until the 80s

pick 6 for Polec and Pittard and handed back 2 second rounders and a 3rd(plus rcv an extra 3rd and 4th rounder next year)

Lycett Rozee For Polec and Pittard at this stage

If Port get 7 from the Dogs for Wingard I wonder if they would entertain bundling up 6,7 and 10 for 2 & 3 from the Suns?
Would guarantee the best 2 SA kids
