Would be nice, Fremantle are 6th alphabetically, does that count in round 1?

Considering most people counted the round 1 win against Sydney as a top 8 scalp, I think the Freo suggestion has merit.

Beating the previous seasons Grand Finalist, on their home deck in R1- a team that made the 8 in 2017, is that so hard to understand why most people regarded it as a win against a top 8 team? Pretty obvious I'd say, but let's move on.

Clutching at straws dude!
They weren’t in the 8 like every other side as it was round 1.

If you really want to be that pedantic, PA thrashed Freo by 89points in R2 when Freo were in the 8 (before that match started). But never let the facts get in the way of a good story

Well they couldn't beat a side in the 8 when it mattered most

I dunno how Freo could be in the 8 after getting flogged by Geelong round 1. But as you say never let the facts get in the way of a good story!

I barrack for Port mate but sometimes we have to face facts, we can roll it in glitter as much as we want but the story of 2017 remains the same.

I wonder if Port might try playing him off a wing or HFF.. Quality player when on, and genuine line breaker - could be a good link between forward and back.

Handy depth player. Unless he can capture his form from a few years back thats all he will be.

Agreed, we've got Pittard, DBJ, Broadbent, Hartlett, Houston, Bonner and now McKenzie for small defender duties.

I'd like to see Houston played up the ground sending the ball I50. Averaged 16 touches across his 17 games in his first season at 82% D/E mainly playing across half back. Move him up onto the wing / high half forward, we've got cover down back.

Pure gold...however once I stop laughing, apart from clogging up a list spot (may even be a rookie?) there is no real downside for this from Port's perspective. I would say part of this deal is we are paying 90% of his contract as we need to fill out our cap for another year anyway, Port couldn't fit another $450K+ into the cap I wouldn't think, but get a depth player for 12 months, he gets to show if he can extend his AFL career, we get cap space in 2019 and to clear a spot for another kid in 2018.
