Wow.

Well this summer is going to be remembered either as very good recruiting or an absolute over kill and waste of energy

PORT ADELAIDE is delighted to announce former Melbourne co-captain Jack Trengove has accepted a one-year offer to join the Power in 2018.

Trengove, who played 86 games for Melbourne since debuting in the opening Round of 2010, joins Port Adelaide after being recruited by the Demons with pick 2 at the 2009 AFL National Draft.

Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps says Trengove still has plenty to offer.

“The football world knows that Jack has had some much-publicised injury setbacks over the last couple of years but we are confident that he still has plenty of upside and will contribute positively to our playing group both on and off the field,” said Cripps.

“We are all well aware of the skill level and pure football ability that Jack possesses, but most importantly he also brings great character, integrity and leadership to our club which will be invaluable to our entire playing group.”

Trengove, who was born in South Australia, is thrilled to be coming home to a second chance at AFL level.

“I am so appreciative of Port Adelaide providing me with another chance to play the game I love,” said Trengove.

“I still feel as though I have plenty to offer with my experience and leadership and I can’t wait to start this new phase in my career.

“And to come home and be back around family and friends will make the transition so much easier.”

Trengove will officially join his new teammates at Alberton at pre-season training on Monday 27 November.

So interested to know how all these new faces are gonna fit into the squad? Surely Trengove isn't best 21 and Thomas certainly isn't?

Is there a bit of insurance in case Robbie Gray is delayed in his recovery? Does this edge Boak closer to the end?

Robbie Gray is a very good player but you don’t need 4 washed up players as insurance surely?

Both will be playing Magpies. Thomas as experience for the kids (about to spew at the thought of that), Trengove as a no risk pick up. If it comes off, we look like world beaters, if it doesn't so be it. Better off picking him up rather than someone with our last rookie draft pick in probably the shallowest draft of all time

so be it? taking other clubs off cuts is a massive risk. Heads need to roll if it doesn't pay off.

Trengove is a natural leader and hard worker and will benefit the kids but Thomas....... what the **** does he offer?

I'm certain he will work closely with Pauly and the Aboriginal programs, perhaps particularly the AFL Academy.

I'm sure his value off field to the young indigenous lads around the club will be immense, likely more so than his value on field.

The only explanation is they are going to delist the majority of these and draft 10 kids in this so called super draft next year. Otherwise, why do it?
