Talk on the national game

BTW I love Saturday twilight, my preferred time slot.

Few beers in the afternoon, get on the train about 2ish and into town for a 3 o'clocker or two somewhere and then either back into town, the cas or my bed before 10, wake up Sunday chipper.

getting in early with the excuses?!

Facts mate!

Go and find some excuses to why you lost a GF at short priced favourites.

I'm sure the Crows have a tough draw too but they are a better side, I'd expect them to finish higher than Port on that prinicple.

I'd go:

Geelong, Adelaide, Sydney, GWS & Richmond to be the benchmark without even looking at the draw, Melbourne may even push for top 4.

There are no excuses as to why the crows lost the GF. The fact is they weren't anywhere near good enough on the day.

Pretty irrelevant to bring up the Crows from 2017 in a topic related to Port in 2018.... but play on.

All i'm saying is that there's lots of commentary already on here from Port people about tough draws and time slots. Looks like early excuses to me.

Maybe it's just a discussion between grown ups. Hard to do on here, granted.

You wanna stick your beak in for a cheap troll and you will get a response.

The timeslot comment was relevant to crowd numbers and people playing footy at that time, the tough draw is because Port finished top 8 and need to expect it.

Great teams beat good teams, I didn't really read anyone using it as an excuse but go ahead, throw your grenade in the door.

It's off-season, the new draw has just been released - what discussion do you expect to happen? :?

yep i'll concede that it was kind of a cheap troll but i actually expected the port people to be a bit more bullish about next season.

I made the comment because having looked down the first page of comments on this thread i saw more things that looked like excuses and reasons to downplay expectations, not what i expected to see.

No, actually i'd respect the confidence.

That's the Port Adelaide i knew growing up.... and they could back it up usually too.

The new Port is different it seems.

Sorry, I support Port Power, I'm not a magpies supporter.

I have two eyes too, Port were a fair way off the mark this year and have some catching up to do, I think my brother is one of the stereotypes you have pointed out, he's full of confidence already and is rapt that port have a challenging draw.

Would be nice, Fremantle are 6th alphabetically, does that count in round 1?

Considering most people counted the round 1 win against Sydney as a top 8 scalp, I think the Freo suggestion has merit.

Maybe next year will be complete opposite and Port will beat sides while they are in the top 8, but they may not finish there

Made the China game hard for you (except the opposition) with having a Showdown the week before then travel. Showdowns are normally tough and physical therefore taking an extra day or two to recover
