Not really a huge disparity between top and bottom but I am surprised Adelaide is the oldest.

Do they include rookies?

I thought Geelong would have been clearly number 1 with Ablett back

I think its an absolutely irrelevant stat anyway, if you want to use that as some sort of measuring tool perhaps average age of the playing 22 is a better guide,
Mind you it does indicate we are back in the premiership window ;)
I think if we have the run Adelaide and Richmond had with injuries last year we can definitely push to top 6 and even top 4, i know many of you wont agree but take out our first 6 weeks last year and it puts us into the top 4, i think you can put that start down to pretty much making it to the last 4 for 6 years in a row, it has to eventually catch up with you. Exasperated even more with the bye round before finals now giving all the sides outside the 8 5 weeks head start instead of 4, thats a massive advantage

Yep does include rookies according to the article.

Not that surprising, we added two players over 30 after only having 1 beforehand. And most of our players are 25-29

I think we were about 7th or 8th last year

Oooohhh, look, a list of numbers!!

What's the median age??
Any significant differences between the means?
Any significant between the means of previous years?
Any significant difference from the mean of premiership winning clubs?

What that list tells me is that Gold Coast, North and Brisbane are the clubs to have the most players eligible to have their first legal drinks of alcohol in 2018....

I think you might struggle again in 2018 due to your star players in the twilight of their careers but you will be back to very good in 2019 when some of your juniors get some more games into them

You might be right, its probably the hardest list to judge out of all the clubs as to where we might be heading. Im not sure that we have to many in the twilight of their careers though, yes Roughead is one, but dont think there is too many others the wrong side of 30 without looking it up, probably have alot of 26-29yr olds

Burgoyne, Birchall, Poppy, Henderson, McEvoy,Roughy all in your best 22 and all close to calling time on their careers

A couple of your better recruits need to get on the park JOM and O’Rourke

Exact same opinion here. It's irrelevant to do the whole list. Do the best 22 or 25 and that will give a better indication of where the club is at age wise

The 4 players left on Gold Coast's list must be between 21 and 25.

Burgoyne yes, how could i forget him, the others arent 30 yet
Poppy 29, bit part, role player anyway
Mcevoy 28
Henderson 29 questionable if hes in best 22
Birchall 29
Frawley 29
As i said i reckon we probably have the most 26-29yr olds in the comp, hard to tell just going by gut without a graph. Add Gunston, Bruest, Stratton, Rioli, Smith, Shiels, Duryea, Whitecross, Ceglar, Shoenmakers, thats 17 players in that age group, but far from finished. Luckily theyre not all best 22 players

I trhink O'Rourke is finished, only survived because there was no point drafting another kid for 2 years who is just as bad, will be delisted next year.
Omeara the key to top 4-6, if he is a bust again we dont have the midfield quality to match it with the big boys.

This was on the Herald sun website.

Probably a better indication of where each club is at as it breaks down the age ranges.

(Also has hawks as oldest, my guess is that the HS hasn’t included rookie list whereas afl website did )

Adelaide all in for a flag in '18.

Two keys, Betts ( 32 next year ) and Jacobs ( 30 next year ) are at ages that suggest their best footy isn't in front of them.

Surely Adelaide get games in O'Brien in the '18 pre season comp?
