This system still doesn’t sit well with me. Deadset unlucky he broke his leg, definitely feel for Fisher but Howe’s split second reaction happens quite a bit in plenty of matches.
Once again a player is being suspended on the outcome, not the action. If he didn’t break his leg it would’ve been a fine.

Its reflex a lot of the time. Dustin Fletcher got pinged for it pretty often.
What was the maximum he got when found guilty I wonder?

For memory he was reported 6 times for tripping. Twice he copped a week and I still believe he is the only bloke to receive a game for a hand trip

Ben Cousins had been reported for tripping more times than that, just never got games for it.

McKernan was the last person to get suspended for hand tripping, cost him a Brownlow.

I think he would've copped a game still.

I see it all the time, it's a hard one to umpire as you see a leg stick out and then retract before contact and the player looks surprised that he actually attempted to do it, I'll generally go and have a word to the player when the ball is up the other end but they are generally remorseful.
