Speaking of Hogan, how good was Heeney's mark? Mark of the year IMO.

Nick Smith's season possibly over too, with hamstring tendon related injury likely to sideline him for 6 weeks.

I have almost all the contenders for the bottom half of the 8 losing this week...

6th Syd lose to Hawks
7th Melb lose to WC
8th Port lose to Coll
10th North lose to Adel
12th Ess lose to Rich

9th Geelong beat Freo to jump in

The Steven Bradbury final series!

Whilst the race to the finals is as close as ever im afraid it will be all a bit of a formality once finals begin.
Tigers 2x MCG games and into GF, WCE 2x craypot games and into the GF.
Tigers to smash WCE in GF.

The reason the end of the season is so good/tight is that the teams making up pos 3-10 aren't close to Richmond (and to a lesser extent WCE esp. at home).

As a cat man and closet port fan (isn't everyone on here?) I hope they both make the 8 meaning Melbourne miss out - pretty funny that people were predicting them for potential premiership (even Bruce) last week and Richmond's only challenger, pfft gotta beat someone above you on the ladder you avocado eating scarfe wearing nobs!

Whilst the most likely result is Richmond winning the flag (and it appears to be by a comfortable distance), the winner of the GF (or any final) is never a foregone conclusion. Imagine the Tiges lose a quality player or two during the finals series or early on GF day. Anything can happen, just gotta get there and give yourselves a chance.

Only two possible upsets I can see :

GWS get everything right and run at Richmond offensively making the Tigers spend time in their back half which they rarely do.

Hawthorn's best ball users get enough of the ball to deny Richmond possession and the likes of Breust, Gunston, Roughy kick a few each.

Can't see anyone else beating them and the above two scenarios are fairly unlikely in their own right.

Dont disagree mate and can'[t see Richmond not winning it, just saying funnier things can happen. As Daisy has mentioned repeatedly, noone really thought the star-studded Cats in 2008 could get beaten either.

Hugely unlikely, but sometimes the footy Gods can be a surprising bunch.

No more deserving team than Hawthorn when it comes to the premiership footy god

I wouldn’t be writing off Sydney either.
Their best is good enough.

Not for mine. Only one key tall up forward, and their midfield warriors showing signs of age and wear an tear. Always a chance in any one off game, but they'll need a long campaign and can't see it happening.

Sydney have 2 elimination finals in the next 2 weeks. They win both of those and they will most certainly deserve to be there and have the confidence they can keep the run going.

After losing to GC and the bombers they have turned it around with wins over Collingwood and Melbourne so you just never know.

GWS with their quick/ good kicking mids will be our biggest worry I think.

This time last year most would have said its the Crows or Giants to lose & look what happened. I also wouldn't be suprised if we don't drop one of our next two heading into finals.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
