The Derby and the Showdown probably wouldn't have needed it, but the physical clashes, particularly in the early years, certainly helped build the rivalry and interest.

Should play it in round 1 before both teams are near the bottom or have Brisbane play Carlton away in round 1, Gold Coast could draw St. Kilda at home then they could potentially be playing for top spot in round 2.

So, basically ladder fixing?

There was a little spice in their last encounter I believe.

I've posted on here before that I believe every team should get on Friday night game as their right for being part of the competition. Make theirs a Q-Clash early in the year, either Round 1 the day after the Carlton/Richmond opening or perhaps Anzac Day weekend (depending when it falls and the relation to other footy).

Thats the type they need, i said at the start of the season their forward line was crap becaus they didnt have any tacklers in their fwd 6 or 7. Gray and Wingard certainly dont. Wingard on the way out then id imagine

Wingard laid more tackles this year than he has in any previous year, good observation, I doubt he's going any where and Dahlhaus is most certainly on his way to Geelong.

Well yeah you are right, he laid more this year but coming from a very low base

I say give them all priority picks, give them two for all i care it wont make any difference, the good clubs like Hawks, Cats, Swans will still be there, they do drafting and developing right. Hawks have hardly had a decent pick for 10 years and are more than willing to trade away their high picks for ready made players. So give those bottom feeders extra picks and then we'll pick the eyes out of them in 3-4 years time

Its funny listening to Carlton fans complain (not here) for picks etc, its not fair that the big clubs always get recruits.....

Hawks, swans, havent bottomed out to get picks to be competitive.

Adds more weight to the argument that Free Agency only helps the good sides get stronger.

Yep. Got Roughead in 2004 and Xavier Ellis in 2005.

They got one from Fremantle in 2001 (trade) and took Hodge.
