GUN father-son and academy prospect Bailey Scott has decided to nominate North Melbourne as his preferred club of choice.

The 18-year-old was in the unique situation of being tied to Geelong and North Melbourne as a father-son pick — father Robert played over 100 games at both clubs — while he is also eligible as an academy selection for Gold Coast.

But after declaring last week at the AFL Draft combine that he would wait until his exams and assignments to make a decision, Scott has decided he wants to play for the Kangaroos in 2019.

North Melbourne football boss Cameron Joyce was excited that Scott had elected to nominate the Roos as his club of choice.

That can not be the case. 19 now means 18 last draft and thus first.

He is probably thinking that 8 million dollar contract has to go to someone.

What was the unfair advantage they used to get Lynch?

they haven't, and neither did sydney... Worked within the rules the AFL set... AFL spat the dummy cause their love child missed out...

Zero issue with the Tigers getting Lynch, good get...

I havent watched many GC games but is Lynch really that good. Has really only had 1 good year hasnt he. He has copped a fair bit about his character being captain of the club and not saying where he was going even when he was out injured from round 14. Is he really worth what he is getting. Id rather JK than Lynch just saying

Absolute BS that clubs can on trade their mature agers. The whole idea behind it was to get some mature bodies into the club. Not sure how pick 42 is going to help Carlton

Yeah, smells funny that one.

Exactly. The Swans were too smart for their own good and the AFL were not happy about it.

REB

Do you mean paying players in the allotted salary cap agreed upon by the AFL????

Rory Lobb wants to go to Fremantle.

WANTAWAY Greater Western Sydney tall Rory Lobb has settled on Fremantle as his preferred new home over West Coast.

Lobb is contracted to the Giants for 2019 but has met recently with both West Australian clubs with the Giants' permission.

AFL.com.au can confirm Lobb will seek a trade to the Dockers in what shapes as a genuine coup for a club that has been hunting a star spearhead for much of the past decade.

Fremantle is also likely to make a play for Jesse Hogan, although the Melbourne full-forward, who is also contracted for 2019, has yet to officially request a trade home to Western Australia.

The Eagles have also been linked to Hogan, however their ability to trade for him will likely be complicated by Andrew Gaff's decision to re-sign and their pursuit of contracted Cats midfielder Tim Kelly.

The Giants put Lobb on the trade table to address a salary cap squeeze and have also allowed contracted players Dylan Shiel, Will Setterfield and Jeremy Finlayson to talk to other clubs.

Very good player. Could easily win a few Coleman’s in the right team.

Wonder if he will get to North if others bid on him early

RE Sydney COLA.

The COLA was designed for a payment for all players and as it was an allowance, it was supposed to be 800k divided by the squad (42?) or about 20 K each.

What Sydney were doing was making each contract worth 90% player payment and 10% COLA.

So, a player on a Million, was 900k player payment and 100K COLA.

A rookie on 60K was 54K player payment and 6K COLA.

That is why they lost it. AFL's fault for not making it set in stone.

Craig Vozzo says the Eagles haven't given up hope of keeping ruckman Scott Lycett, who is the subject of a $3 million free agency offer from Port Adelaide. West Coast has until lunchtime tomorrow to decide if it will match the bid.

He confirmed Rory Lobb's preference is to join Fremantle and Bulldog Jordan Roughead remains on the radar.

"We need a ruckman," Vozzo said.

Stephen Wells has also provided updates on several other players:

Gary Rohan

"We had a good discussion with Sydney today. Yes, I am confident we'll get Gary Rohan in. It might take a bit more work yet, but Sydney and Geelong always get on well in these sort of discussions."

Jack Steven

"We didn't meet St Kilda today. Jack's a terrific player but we're fully expecting he'll be playing at St Kilda in 2019. They've made it very clear to everybody over a number of weeks now that he's not on the trade table, so I think that story's over."

Daniel Menzel

"We didn't talk to any of the clubs today about Daniel Menzel. Daniel's an unrestricted free agent so until the free agency period's over the ball is in Daniel's court, so to speak, where he's got his options with any clubs that he chooses to go to."

And Geelong get a 195cm 19 year old before the draft even opens for a bloke they didn't want.

Agreed, this is ridiculous... completely defeats the purpose of the compensation
