You would think that besides a Ruckman, almost anyone else taken would not play, so why do it.

A SANFL/WAFL/VFL side losing their ruckman can completely stuff up their season.

Hawthorn's Luke Breust and Isaac Smith join fellow Hawk Chad Wingard, Melbourne's Steven May, North Melbourne's Robbie Tarrant ( actually injured ) and Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray in withdrawing from this weeks AFLX bollocks.

More changes are expected in the next 24 hours before the squads are finalized.

The Suburban Footballers believes @carey will sign for the something-or-others before Friday. ;)

Does anyone know where to get the AFLX guernseys from? That's if they aren't sold out yet!

The 6/6/6 rule will be interesting, I can only see the stronger clubs getting stronger and the weaker clubs getting worse, those with strong midfields will dominate with the extra space, mind you after the initial ball up there is no rule to stop them dropping 2 behind the ball.

Heard on the wireless yesterday that players who have listed themselves as having "mental health" issues are exempt form having random drug tests.

Eddie everywhere on MMM Melbourne refuted that number this morning. Mind you I heard that on a digital radio..... not the wireless!

I call bullshit on this, the AFL would be investigating heavily if 1/3 of the team had mental health issues.

Its hard to image how one club could have 1/3 of its list suffering mental health issues. I mean what would it take to suffer that amount of issues..... a poorly executed pre season bus trip, playing opposition club songs, and being tied to trees in the middle of the night I spose?

Based on their performance in the GF I’d say more than 1/3 were affected.

Allegedly. There is also talk that one player has self reported 22 times for using illicit drugs, citing mental health issues.

As per usual, the AFL has cocked this up big time.

People with genuine mental health issues should be as far away from the stuff as is possible. Not testing them helps no one and probably hurts them.

People with genuine mental health issues need to be looked after by the AFL, people on illicit drugs should be shown the door after 1 strike IMO.

22 times? I would call this habitual use and should be taken off the clubs active list.
Then put through rehab for 6 months, regularly tested, and not allowed back on the active list until he passes 6 months clean.
This offender should also be dropped back to minimum wage for breach of contract.

This mental health card is disrespectful to the players who are genuinely ill, not someone with a drug problem!

Nick Riewoldt on SEN said illicit drug use is rife, which supports Grant Thomas from last week.
But this really isnt a surprise to anyone.
