But but I thought Port were losing fans because they are disconnected from the club, now you're mentioning timeslots and mother nature.

You've been spruiking the 44k figure all year you muppet, lbh.

Got the better of me so I read his post. "Port fans are front runners"

Richmond home crowd averages :

2010 37,452 Finished 15th
2014 43,196 Finished 8th
2018 61,175 Finished 1st

Hawthorn home crowd averages :

2006 28,109 Finished 11th
2010 37,876 Finished 7th
2019 31,077 Finished 9th

Just a quick look at two of the club to win multiple premierships in recent times almost suggests there's a correlation between not playing well and crowd numbers falling. There is, look ^ there.

And if you're not performing well you miss out on the preferred timeslots, but let Ulysses have his time in the spotlight, he can join the other 747 spectators at Elizabeth Oval to watch the doggies.

Interesting you mention that.

Port Adelaide home crowd average

Port Adelaide 2016 - 39332 finished 10th
Port Adelaide 2017 - 38136 finished 5th

So if Port can win multiple premierships like Richmond/Hawks the fans will come back.

For a club that has won 1 premiership in the last 25 years.

Good luck gents fair to say you are going to need it.

And I thought china was a hail mary plan.

PORT ADELAIDE has secured an additional selection in the first-round of the 2019 NAB AFL Draft after completing a pick swap with Brisbane.

Port Adelaide has added pick 16 to its collection of draft picks along with picks 52, 55 and 72.

It means the Power will have three first-round selections, as it did in 2018, at the draft later this month.

The move will see Port Adelaide give up pick 29 and 71 in the 2019 draft along with a future first round selection.

“We were eager to secure an extra first-round pick in this year’s draft, which is less compromised than next year’s, and this fits our strategy over the last couple of years of securing more top-end talent,” said General Manager – Football, Chris Davies.

“We are also mindful of having access to a number of potential father-son and NGA recruits both this year and next, so we wanted to give ourselves the best opportunity to select them if we choose to do so.

“This swap has left us in a strong position to attack the draft later this month.”

The deal means Port Adelaide currently holds picks 12, 16, 18, 52, 55, 66, 67, 68, 72 and 86 at the NAB AFL Draft, which will be held at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday 27 November and Thursday 28 November.

Interesting, I know there are a few guns at South that would fit under Port's Academy in 2020 draft (and 2021 for that matter)

Correct, but they'll be points based and we already had our own 2nd rounder and St Kilda's for next year, we also get round 4 from Melbourne.

So 2 x round 2, 1 x round 3 and 2 x round 4 next year.

Doesn't look that great, but that will be on the back of 6 first rounders in two years ( 3 last year, 3 this year ) and we'll use all the 50+ picks we have this year for Mead who would have been a first rounder* ( potentially ) meaning possible 7 x 1st rounders in two years.

Really building a squad for 3-5 years from now, hard sell for the membership department and will be interesting if we finish 10th again with Hinkley out of contract if we do.

Yeah it’s a hard sell for the members but must be just as hard for your gun players with only a few years left in their career aswell. Not much fun for Gray, Boak etc knowing they could potentially not see finals action for the remainder of the career. At the end of the day though I think it’s the right choice to go down this path

It is, also exciting for them to see the next group making their way through and what might be in 2-3 years as opposed to seeing the same thing happen year after year.

Went down the FA path with Motlop, Watts, Rockliff, it hasn't worked and they've gone hard at two drafts to turn the list over with top end talent.

6 first rounders + Mead in two years.

How did he fair at Port in time trials?
I’m assuming he was towards the back of the pack?

Wouldn't be able to tell you mate. I see them train 5 or 6 times a summer but usually only at Alberton when it's skills sessions, not the 3k around the Uni loop.

Port also banking on Taj Schofield (F/S) and Lachlan Jones (NGA) developing into first round prospects next year.

Can we do that though?

If mead is bid on by another club before pick 18, then don't we have to use the next available pick in the summing up of the points?

If we have to use pick 18, then all of a sudden, the 7 odd picks we have between 50 and 85 become fairly pointless!
