I do agree with that, but a month out from the season you’d like to think your potential captain could make a few smarter choices

Wouldn't such a high risk activity be banned under the player contract? I do know this is stated in professional cricket contracts that certain activities are out. Playing competition football is one, snow skiing is another.

Apparently was running at training today, no ball work or contact. Wouldn’t think it is too bad if he is running within 48 hours

Yeah how dare he refrain from potentially dangerous activities while being paid 700k+ a year to stay fit and healthy......

You'd think that Ollie should refrain from any activities that require balance.... the size of that bonce puts him at an immediate disadvantage!

I'll await the report on the scans to see how bad the damage is but, given he was running yesterday I can't see it being too bad, as in reconstruction bad.

As for him water skiing, he's been doing it since he could walk so from a "risk assessment" point of view it's relatively low risk, he's no novice.

Yeah there is no secret he waterski's so the club would be fully aware of it and its risks.

Its a tough one, while there is the physical risk, there is also the mental relief from the pressure bowl environment these kids are in and if these activities allow them to come to the club refreshed and in a good frame of mind that is of some value also.

Sloane surfs 2-3 times a week for example, you wouldn't dare take that away from him, as his performance would likely suffer IMO.

Better to relax, enjoy life and water ski in the day time than to get pent up, , break out and go heavy drinking in the night time.

I can’t water ski so I’m left with little choice...

Max Burford reporting on Twitter that Wines has had scans and was meeting with his surgeon.

Port will confirm plans ( surgery or otherwise ) this afternoon.

Burford followed up that Wines' lift left without him "so it looks like the surgeon has determined an operation right now" is the best course of action.

"We don't believe it's a full reconstruction. Rather a tighten up" of the joint.

Round one not out of the question.

Ollie Wines has entered Sportsmed for minor surgery, his shoulder injury not as bad as feared. It’s believed he will be back in 6-8 weeks. - Vicki Shwarz
