Apart from the tainted WCE premiership has a team with co-captains won a flag?

Sydney?

Port effectively had 2 captains for 2004

Only one was a premiership captain though

They weren't co-captains, Judd and Cousins.

Oh thought they were, was that the year he was replaced after the off field stuff?

Essendon great Tim Watson says it’s an “outdated” view to think that clubs should only have one player assume the captaincy role.

It comes after Adelaide appointed Taylor Walker and Rory Sloane as co-captains for the 2019 season with Carlton, Melbourne, Sydney and GWS also deciding to go down the path of having joint skippers.

“I don’t think that you need to just have one captain. I think it works for some clubs,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“I think if you’ve got a standout individual it may be that person is right for the leadership at your club.

“But if you want to distribute the leadership over a number of people, and we’ve seen that work very successfully for some clubs, or you want to rotate the captaincy because that’s what you think you should do … I think it’s an outdated view that you need to have just the one captain.”

Watson, a former captain of the Bombers, says it’s getting harder for one individual to handle the intense scrutiny of solely leading an AFL club.

“There’s more focus on that leadership role now than there has ever been before,” Watson added.

“There are so many people that have opinions that are voiced publicly now than ever before, which adds to the pressure of somebody

“If you want to distribute that pressure and you’ve got two people (Walker and Sloane) who are great candidates … it sounded logical to me.

“You’ve got two people that have got complimentary personality traits.”

Was funny listening to Kane speaking about the AFC captaincy announcements...he wanted to have a crack but he knows Port are about to announce the same set up. He even said "watch all the people go ooohhh Port are copying the Crows"

I can’t see them doing it either.
Would go against any tradition they have left and alienate their older supporters.

Former Port Adelaide midfielder Kane Cornes has revealed he very nearly joined crosstown rivals Adelaide at the end of the 2011 season.

Cornes, who was struggling under head coach Matthew Primus, explains how close the move was to happening.

“For me, just thinking back to 2011 when I was rotting away in the SANFL, I probably had an opportunity where I could’ve gone to Adelaide,” he told SEN SA Breakfast.

“I tried to go to Adelaide at the end of 2011.

“They needed a run-with player at the time, I don’t know what Port Adelaide needed, they needed anything they could get their hands on.

“I had Brenton Sanderson and Phil Harper in my house.

“There was a bit of support for it from Adelaide and Port Adelaide were very happy to show me the door, but yeah Adelaide didn’t think it was the right move for them.

“And I showed them! Thank goodness that didn’t happen!”

Cornes would go on to play 22, 23 and 25 games across the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons for Port Adelaide.

Makes sense why he hates us so much making him play three more years for Port
