Port Adelaide 5th?

We would need the near perfect season to finish 5th

I see us in the 7 to 11 range, things go well for us with some young legs with speed and we actually try to win games not save them and we sneak in 7th or 8th. Or we stick to the same old defensive mind set which hasn't worked for us and we'll be flat track bullies at home and finish 10th or 11th.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Whilst I understand that expectation for the PAFC is quite low this season, watching our U23's trial the new rules on Saturday, picking a ladder this year will be tougher than ever. I am not saying that we are locks for the flag, but a top 8 finish isn't out of the question. I feel the key to our season will be how we navigate our way through the first 6 weeks, and just how quickly we can get Dixon back on the park.

Barring a poor run with injury I can't see how Essendon can miss the 8.

They have an outstanding group of small forwards in Fantasia, Tippingwitu and Smith. Stringer has apparently put in more pre-season minutes at Windy Hill than any other Bomber and sounds as though he has really set himself for a big year. Stewart is a decent focal point (although Hooker and/or Hurley could run through there too) and Daniher has the genuine potential to be Buddyesque at some point in his career.

Shiel helps bolster a midfield that needed, but added with younger players' development they look stronger there than in 2018. The names down back look sound enough and I expect McGrath to improve again and players like him and Saad give them great rebound. Hope they can stay relatively healthy, because if they do the Bombers will quite possibly be the most exciting side to watch this season.

Agreed, hopefully they remember Hooker is a defender and they play him there, his lack of forward nous is clear and why they keep trying him up there is impossible to fathom.

Yeah, bottom half of the top 8, will play well in Melbourne but lose some soft ones on the road.

Not sure if he will be ready for round 1 but everything points to him starting forward again. Worsfold likes him up there where he can cause some trouble with his strength and marking ability. A lot depends on how fit Joe is as we don’t have a heap of forward options

Hannebery, Carlisle and Stevens out for extended periods of 2019... they are a lock for the bottom 2 the Saints.

We got nearly 130 games and a B&F out of Goddard. Lovett never played a game for the Saints and Carlisle is cooked. Think we are just infront especially if Francis kicks on this year

Top post Carey. Port far too defensive in recent years. Play a good quarter then appear to sit on a lead and defend it.
