Doesn't get any easier for Stratton then. Has there been a more inbred looking captain than him?

Unfortunately for Lingy he looks like Rocky Dennis, Stratton though wouldn't look out of place on one of those American TV shows on Mate

Doesn’t make sense to me that the GC are playing St Kilda in Townsville.

Surely the GC’s biggest issue facing the club is trying to attract greater home game attendances.

They have a perfect opportunity to get a rare ‘home’ win which we know is the proven formula for increasing home crowds and the game is getting played miles away to what will be no doubt one off supporters who even if they jump on boards won’t go to home games regularly.

Bit rough on St.Kilda too.
In the space of 5 games they would’ve gone to China, Townsville & Hobart.

Unfortunately when you don’t have 2 cents to rub together and are in the AFL’s back pocket you get sent to these far flung places to play.
I do wonder how much longer the AFL will allow some of these broke clubs to operate for. Surely the AFL will tire of keeping them afloat

Saints looked utterly cooked.

Dont even look like scoring . Scrapped together 2 behinds for the 1st term.

Shocking game of footy

GC 3.5
StK 0.2

Not sure the good folk of Townsville will want to sit through 3 more quarters of this slop.

They are more tired of so called big clubs not winning a final #5,397

As long as we keep drawing in crowds the AFL couldn’t care less about how many finals we win. They only care about money and hence why clubs like St Kilda are in the gun

Yeah but surely increasing home crowd attendances is the best way to increase sustainable future income.

Similar to what GWS have with Canberra, the Suns are trying to get the Northern QLD market. Townsville and Cairns people traditionally don’t support anything from Brisbane and the Suns know they will never get enough members from just the Gold Coast so if they play 2 games a year in Cairns/Townsville (which could increase to 4) they might capture some members up North.
And FWIW I don’t think GWS and GC will ever be sustainable

Tried their best not to win it at times. Crowd looked pretty good, in fact better than Metricon.

Stratton sent straight to the tribunal on 2 counts. Pinching Fantasia and stomping on McKernan

Much better game. Port look capable of running over them if they stay disciplined, Free's like the one Bonner gave off the ball to Hogan 20 metres out is a killer. Boak in career best form. Rozee gets involved and Port should win.

Yeah, think Port have too much firepower for them and can’t see Ross letting Freo play this attacking all game.

Umpire balls it up telling the appealing Port players no one was tackling him (Walters?). Why ball it up then?
