Just seeing if anyone cared !

Do we relocate them to Darwin - rebadge them as The Northern Suns and in 2020 they play home games at Darwin, Alice Springs and Gold Coast ?

Give them first choice on all NT and islander players for the next 5 years ?

No.
Remove them altogether, each team has a bye instead of those terrible bye rounds that exist now.

Ultimately moving the franchise to another city/state doesn't fix the list, it doesn't fix the fact the management, development and coaching is below AFL standard.

They and GWS were a mistake, they won't back out now ( Demetriou once said the GC was a "30 year plan ) so we're stuck with them.

If the AFL can do anything to help them I'd say give them a Sydney like COLA for 3 years and some 2nd round draft picks that they must trade.

Give them 2 extra picks at the start of the second round for next years draft and if they don't trade them they don't get them.

Picks 19,20,21 hold some solid currency and would get players that add depth to their list. Don't give them pick 1 or 2, kids won't help them.

COLA for 3 years. Concession pick at the start of the 2nd round for 3 years and if they're still shit then so be it.

Has there ever been a Gold Coast team in any code that has been successful? Titans in NRL? Every other has folded.

Bigger picture than that.
I’m not a fan of the Suns coming in but the Auskick participation rate in Queensland is greater than SA apparently and councils can’t produce enough ovals to cater for it. It’s going to be a long burn but the AFL will see it through

AFL need to send David King and Paul Roos up there to fix them and get those two out of the media.

Roos is a fraud!
No more of his disciples in the AFL. The sooner Lyon, Longmire and Goodwin are out of the comp the better

Could the problem be that many of those Auskick kids - by the time they get to the teenage years they have been well and truly distracted by the Gold Coast lifestyle and sport for them gets shoved aside by sun, surf and the other...

Perhaps, but all of those kids aren't playing AFL football and the ones that are are a 1 in 18 chance of ending up on the Suns list.

Unless the AFL steps in and configured the Gold Coast Academy zone to suit.

The AFL have made it clear the GC’s introduction was about building the game in that region.

They don’t need to move or make a team in Tassie coz they have a 100% captured there

If another team is to come in it will be from the NT it was a slightly split state still.

What do the Gold Coast need, well I reckon they could do with a player like Jarrod Lyons for example, wait a minute they delisted him.

Hmmmm that's a pickle.

How about this, if you find decent senior players willing to play up there, then don't delist them.

Amazingly they have salary cap problems so they are already overpaying players, Lachie Weller must be on 800k plus

Genuine question.

Do you think the GC suffer from being a non football location therefore have to pay significant 'overs' to attract players away from the footballing meccas of Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth. Is this overweighed by the fact they are the Gold Coast one of the countries most iconic locations?

Personally if I had the choice of playing for GC or Essendon, Saints, West Coast, Port I would pick going to a 'football town'

Almost another version of the Sydney Cost of Living issue.

Gee what could help a struggling club in an area that is in a non football area to keep and retain players :-?

Yeah but Sydney stuffed that up for themselves by testing the lines with it. The AFL will be happy though that it served it's purpose and helped develop the game in NSW.

Struggling? STRUGGLING?

You win the flag in 2012 and 12 months later sign Franklin to a $10m 10 year deal and you think you're struggling? How out of touch can you be.

I'm glad the umpires took 2016 off you.

You do seem to forget how bad we were in the early 90's right and how hard it was to get players????

We followed the rules set by the AFL #hatersgonnahate #salty
