Even just 5 is.

Papley for 9 shows how much this draft is rated

In general I find drafts over-rated, there are so many diamonds in the rough and many early picks end up not amounting to much, I'd take a proven early 20's player in a heartbeat over a draft pick in the teens, obviously the first few picks are important and almost "ready to play" players but after that they can be hit and miss.

I'll just go put my helmet on now.

I'm not Jim but if I was you I'd be hoping it falls through.

I am ok if it does fall through, especially for the asking price they want

afl.com talking about Essendon chasing "explosive" GWS mid "Aiden Bonar" LOL.

Nearly 21 years old, 2 games, 9.5 disposal average.

10yrs ago I would’ve agreed, but these days I feel the clubs invest so much time and energy into following players from a young age, they rarely get it wrong.

I'm off to a funeral shortly but I'll do some research upon my return.

Just checked the 2016 and 2017 drafts and I'm pretty happy with my assessment.

Well, when the GWS list manager says they will take a third or fourth rounder for him I guess we can oblige ;)

HOORAY, someone agrees with me! This is 100% spot on. Taking a proven player with pick 5-20 is much better than someone in the draft IMO. At least you know what you're going to get. Kids in the draft are generally an unknown quantity outside the top few in a really good draft year.

Member numbers have dropped and next year should be a boom year for the club off field with merchandise, club functions etc, slapping the members in the face two years in a row isn't a great idea, IMO. Add to that the decision seems to have miffed people in all facets of the industry.

On the other side of Port Road, the members asked for a clean out of the playing list, do you think 12 months ago they would have all been clapping and waving as Betts drives to the airport in glowing admiration of him leaving? No, but they know it's best for their club going forward. Port people are the opposite when it comes to losing Howard.

Must admit, looking at a bit of social media this morning and Port fans are incensed with this, much more than I thought.

Going to be tough to turn this sentiment around, they have plenty of time though.

The Age is saying clubs aren’t allowed to lodge any trades today until after 3pm
Good old AFL need some artificially manufactured drama.

Surely there broadcasting this aren't they. I cant wait to see some list manager legging it the ballot box at 2:59 to just make it in time.

You can almost guarantee the AFL are withholding some trades that have been made and request the clubs hold on releasing the information.
