I think that's it Brod. My son is 10 and will play his 100th game this season and grown up with a footy under his arm since he was 2. My daughter is playing her 3rd season this year and still ONLY kicks a footy at training. In total, she might've played 25 games. In football terms, she's 10 years behind my son as far as experience and exposure to the game.

I think people are expecting miracles with the women's footy. To those people I say, give it time.

Exactly right.
Armchair expert wrote:Standard is still poor but from I saw last night the younger players have better skills than the older players, the players with zero skills who can’t kick a droppunt will be moved on rather quickly. Give it 3 years and I think the standard will improve 10fold.

Too right, the time and resources that is getting put into the 10-17 year olds now is incredible and intense, my daughter was in the Crows under 16 team last season and their training was brutal and with no heat policy.

Who would've thought that a competition organiser would expand the competition to the detriment of the game (Hello BBL!)?

Less game time. Less goals. Of course he ******* would.

Sydney coach John Longmire believes a shorter season and shorter games would have a wide range of benefits for the AFL and its players.
Under the current broadcast rights agreement until the end of 2022, the 18 teams will play 22 games in a home and away season, with four 20-minute (plus time on) quarters for every match.

But asked on SEN Breakfast if there was one thing he could add to the game what it'd be, Longmire said: “I'd shorten the season and shorten the games. So I actually wouldn’t add to it, I’d take it away – and I think that way you get more quality, you get your better players playing for longer and playing in more games during the season.”
