Hard to see them starting May 31 if teams have been able to train together in March/April.

The players association will want at least a month lead in for player safety and conditioning.

That is pretty much what they have said, review at end of April, if they get the go ahead to train that would be a month to prep

Fair enough. Hard to see them being allowed.

Every press conference Sco Mo has had, he has talked about us being in this for the long haul, minimum 6 months etc.

Thats a pretty scary proposition.

His own words.
It does put a dampner on the 150 celebration which will hurt port.

Simon Goodwin is the luckiest man that this season isn’t going ahead.

It was west coast who are going OK, but I agree Melbourne were horrid.

LOL. Port and Crows go straight into Port and Crows and are thus unbeatable.

Brisbane players have been told they've been stood down on leave without pay until the AFLPA and AFL reach an agreement on payments.

Yep this is a legitmate working clause that had an adaption made very recently to cater for the current events. Kind of didn't make the news.

Essentially if your work place cant find 'useful employment' they can stand you down with out pay for as long as required.

Given the "off season" has just finished you'd think many of the non-football staff at clubs would have taken their leave over the Xmas period. I'd expect many of these people to have little or no leave owing. GWS and Gold Coast have both stood down the majority of their staff on leave without pay.

You mentioned non- football staff in your first sentence but saying staff in the second sentence, you mean not players?
Or players included?

Correct, at this point, not players.

GWS and Gold Coast have stood down most of their non-football staff already.

Football staff at all clubs currently being thinned out, most will lose their incomes.

Surely players being put on reduced wages happens first?
Getting rid of staff on $50-150k first seems wrong given top end players will still see half of their $600-800k.

On a bit of a tangent here, and the comment made is with a sense of humour...... so when play continues, and a commentator describes a player as having "clean hands"...... are they just using hand sanitizer?

What are the staff getting paid to do whilst football is off?
Many staff at a football club wouldn’t be required if there is no football I’d think

Players aren’t required either if there’s no football. ;)
I just hate how industries always start at the bottom when trying to save money.

Players should all be put on minimum wage until further notice IMO
