I wouldn’t have agreed with last week but after this weekend I think we need something to lift our spirits and look forward to
I mean if we can get the AFL and NRL players isolated in there home state and make use of chartered flights, then I guess it is possible or to keep it going.

Still is it really essential though?

Plenty of aircraft sitting around at the moment doing nothing.

Couple options
1) play r2 with change to program, everyone stays in home state. This doesnt solve anything for r3

2) move all the teams to Victoria or Tasmania and place in lockdown etc

3) Start a new comp based in Victoria with just Victorian teams. Those based at clubs outside of Victoria can opt in or out depending on their personal circumstances ie want to live away from their home and family etc. For example a single guy would have no issue but a married guy with kids may not want to be apart from his family. Have all the teams in lockdown at the same site etc.

Close the AFL down for the season.

Play state based competition. VFL, WAFL, SANFL etc.

AFL players to be eligible to be drafted by local clubs.

The wheel has turned!

Probably not essential but I think to a point we are neglecting the welfare of 20 plus million Australians through secondary consequences of the measures imposed.

Social distancing isn’t as easy as we all joke about, especially if it’s for an extended period of time. There is a reason Home Detention is still considered a punishment.

Who do the umpires look after when they play each other?

Judging by the last time they played and the Dodgy free given to Ian Hanna, I'd say Torrens

Id'd been thinking how good it would be if, given the second-tier leagues have been suspended and the proposed min-draft, if they got the AFL season done in time, ALL the players were released to their original clubs for a truncated, 10-12 game season, maybe during warmer spring evernings.
If the players were happy with this, it could be a great goodwill gesture to the community after this whole situation

AFL suspended until May 31 and will be updated at end of April to see if the ban is required to continue.

All club training is banned at this time.

Hard to see them starting May 31 if teams have been able to train together in March/April.

The players association will want at least a month lead in for player safety and conditioning.

Unless I heard wrong, hasn't training been temporarily suspended for now, pending discussion between the AFL, clubs and players?
I reckon they'll be back doing something within a week
