They will be there once it kicks back off. It might be 2 or 3 years down the track they might need to call it a day on one of the teams if things haven't picked up quickly financially for the AFL.

This will stop the call for a Tassie expansion team for a long time, thankfully.

A tassie team would be great!

Forgetting the financials, business element of it all Tasmania should have a team to get behind so the competition can become truly national. Alongside the NT.

Given Ports offer wasn’t that high from memory it was strange Brisbane didn’t match it.
Makes sense getting Lachie Neale now.

$700k ( reportedly ) x 4 years is pretty decent coin.

Brisbane did have Neale on the way and a solid group of kids they wanted to keep so paying him that much wasn't in their sights.

Port got ripped off there then if he’s on $700k.
2nd string on baller ain’t worth that.

I think it might actually be the opposite. The AFL will become more affordable for a team from Tasmania. The salary cap will be substantially lower, the soft cap will be even lower therefore the amount of coaching staff required will be lower as well.
I for one am looking forward to what the new AFL will look like once all the fat is trimmed off post rona

NIL
In the last few weeks the AFL just signed a new 2 year extension on its TV rights deal. No clubs will be merged or folded as they need 9 games per week to meet their contractual obligations.
The AFL is seeking a $500m loan and individual clubs are doing likewise

Increase the rounds and shorten the break between games then. GC will never work.

So if and when the season starts again where will the players not selected play?
Trivial at this stage I know.

Carlton are expecting that when season starts up again VFL will invite them to submit there own team and that all the Northern Blues players who were not AFL listed players will play for them as top up players , if cost saving was their aim cannot see how this helps .
Really hope VFL don't extend them an invite and then their players who don't get AFL game will just have to train harder to force their way into the top team

Forget footy for 2020, start planning for 2021.

Carlton are basically acknowledging what no-ones prepared to admit right now, especially with respect to the SANFL, VFL and WAFL.

During the World Wars the records show "Competition suspended due to WW1/WW2"
Wonder what the records will show for this year.

Been a hectic day, however I thought I heard AFL are considering voiding the results of round 1. Can’t understand why that would do that. So do they wipe the records, and the lads who made their debut on the weekend are no longer AFL players??? Crazy shyte the games were played, therefore the results stand.

Who else from your club may never play again? ( If no footy is played in 2020 )
