Matt Richardson:

As positive as all of this is, this reality also is that 2020 has had a significant financial impact on the Club. The reliance of game day revenues at Adelaide Oval and several other major impacts meant our club revenue was down $18m on budget. The incredible support from our members, supporters and partners on top of sacrifices from many people to reduce costs meant we’ve significantly reduced the impact but it’s still sees our debt position worsen and the re-building of our balance sheet has to be a strategic priority.  We are finalizing the result over the break and will confirm this with you in January as well as providing a clear picture of our debt position, and most importantly what we are going to do about it in 2021 and beyond.

I thought China and Adelaide OVal was going to fix all of that ???

What a surprise debt is still an issue for PAFC. You could never ever of predicted that.

Looks like crowd sizes has a major effect on clubs revenue. Now Isnt that interesting.

Will this be just another blind commitment from PAFC to reduce debt like we have heard several times over the last decade ???

Reduce debt, not increase it during his term as CEO, "re-building of our balance sheet has to be a strategic priority" & "as well as providing a clear picture of our debt position" indicates how their debt position has been ignored and its now left with Richardson to sort out.

COVID has simply exposed an already precarious position.

Perhaps now Norwood can now buy cheaply the Port Adelaide AFL and SANFL licences and put them to good use.
Maybe it was the plan all along? ;)

KT & Kochie have regularly said that investment into the club and its position was critical in the short to medium term to establish long term revenues.

That is fine to have that strategy but also comes with significant risk, how was this risk mitigated?

By not reducing their debt they have also paid somewhere between $2-$3m in interest over the last 5 years.
