Cost of around $30m. I’m hearing federal grant of around $15m. Surely the state government won’t be kicking in too much in the current economic climate. I understand there may be some sponsorship coin too but the Club is approx $12m in debt, surviving off AFL hand outs. Can someone please tell me where the rest of these millions are coming from?

Pity the club don't care about the locals..

$12m or $25 million debt, what’s the difference when they aren’t paying any of it back anyway.

I was thinking the same thing ,12million in debt?
Why would you not pay the debt. Is there interest involved in this debt?

Apparently 15 million from sponsors, benefactors etc but they are presuming the federal taxpayer will cough up 15 million.
Anyone told Scomo yet?
As a liberal bean counter wouldn't he say "service your debt first"?
According to Richardson that's a given.

I have to give it to Port, they have nurries, to ask for the special treatment they receive.

A development to enhance womens footy in the area, soccer pitches & basketball courts to get our kids of their PC's, I'd say there's a bit of care.

Geez footy fans have changed. Remember when we used to simply shout "Rowey's a Wanker" now everybody's a Ross Greenwood shouting "Show us ya Books"

I'm with Booney. The club cares about locals, just not the ones impacted by the rebuild.

Port Adelaide Football Club’s plans to transform the historic Alberton Oval into a multi-sport precinct has been boosted with $15m of federal government funding.

The extra money has supercharged the club’s plans to power into the AFLW for the 2022-23 season.

Making the announcement at Alberton Oval, in Labor heartland, Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared the redevelopment would inspire future generations of South Australian sporting stars.

Well there you go, a big investment from the feds in a Labor held seat.

I'm pretty sure there's Port supporting voters in several other seats too.

The demographic is changing in Cheltenham, Alberton, Rosewater etc, housing prices are going through the roof ( like every where, but we're seeing the $1m mark surpassed regularly ) and while I expect it to remain a Labor held seat, things are changing.
