I had been hearing for months that Port were talking to his management. I wouldn’t rule them outDOC wrote:The way I read it, he has only requested it after becoming aware of Kelly going which gives the Crows salary cap space and an open spot.
He finished third in the Swans BnF so probably gets a decent offer.

Plus in the last week there's been-
Eddie Betts
Jarrod Harbrow (The Suns current games record holder with 191)
Cale Hooker
Stephen Hill
David Astbury
Marc Murphy
Levi Casboult
Jake Carlisle
Shaun McKernan
Apologies if they've been mentioned earlier but yes retirements galore!

Will be interesting to see what path they go down.
I still believe there list is better than where they finished, last year things got away from them especially off the field with multiple incidents.
Will they do a Geelong and try and capture experienced talent and claim one more premiership in the Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt era.
Or will they go full rebuild which essentially means the big 3 have won their last flag, if that's the case will the big 3 finish one club players, are they ready for that yet. They could be the ones driving the club not to go into rebuild mode.

Interesting strong rumours they have met with Daniel Talia, maybe they are going to go down the Geelong path and try and top up to steal one more flag.

With Astbury retiring and Baltas injury he fills a need

Thinking has to be try & steal one more flag next year, then slowly see off Cotch, Jack etc.
Like Port I think we fall just short in the depth department in the middle of the ground. But they might as well have once last ditch at it. Plus at this stage we have picks 7,15, 26 & 28. Can get some youth in or try bundle some picks up to get a top 4 pick perhaps.
Losing CCJ will hurt long term but you can't blame him for wanting more opportunities.
