Geez some of the twitter meltdown about Wines winning the Brownlow is incredible. Almost would have liked Port to make the GF just for that.

Turned into a joke the number of votes the winner gets these days. 36 votes and polled in 11 of last 12 games please. Someone will get 50 votes soon. Looks like his year was as good as dusty in 2017.

I was stunned when guys were getting 3 votes in 7 goal losses or similar - surely if you’re side loses you’re not the BOG.

Guys get votes for their name as well I’m certain of it - Walsh is a good player, but in a side that won 8/23 he’s not worthy of 30 votes.

Walsh and Wines definitely benefited from having little depth in their respective midfields

Isn't it voted on by umpires?

The prosecution rests.

Was thinking the same, 3 games Boak got 3 and Wines got 2. Conceivably Wines could have got another 3 votes.

North should've been awarded the Brownlow, they beat Ollie by 3 votes.

Agree but it dropped away considerably after that.

Smith 8

Port Adelaide :

Did I hear Gillan McLachlan correctly when he welcomed winner Ollie Wines to the stage last night?
"Well done, good boy". Why not give him a biscuit and scratch his ears too? Condescending twat.

Anyone else curious as to how Wines managed to poll 7 votes from Rounds 19 -22 ? In those games he played okay but was quieter than his previous games and not in the top 3 on the ground. How Drew didn't get votes in round 19 v Cwd and round 21 v Crows is interesting....

Vaccination taken out of the AFL's hands, Victorian Government making vaccination compulsory for AFL players.

DELIBERATION TIME

11.25am: The Appeals Board has heard all the evidence and is now deliberating their decision.

They have agreed to return at 2pm AEDT to deliver a verdict.

In his final submission for the AFL, Jeff Gleeson QC said what should be considered in the decision is "the look" of the incident. "And the look is terrible," he said.

Penalising players on "looks" of incidents. Terrible.

Fair enough too, should have been 6 weeks from the start. Big loss for GWS till Round 5 next year
