Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Geelong have defied the system for longer than anyone in the modern era but the drop off feels like it's just around the corner.

It's already happened. Any side with a good midfield should get the drop on us. Our depth at the moment is wafer thin and while we have a few blokes out it's not exactly Eagle like levels of devastation when it comes to our list. Good to see Stephens get his debut this week and it's also good to see Narkle get another chances as well as Evans. No Higgins, Dahl and Selwood isn't the worst thing.

I reckon Stanley might not get up and Esava hasn't played for weeks. If Blicavs has to go into the ruck against Preuss and Flynn we are going to get monstered in the midfield. The back six this week is the weakest I can recall at Geelong for many years, ditto the mids. The forward line looks ok but we have to get it down there.

Can't speak for all my fellow Catters but I could handle us missing the eight if it meant getting some decent draft picks for a change. I'd also like to see us stop topping up as we are nowhere near it so it's time to get real. Play the kids is the cry!

Cameron. Think we did ok there. I think we got Kel with 21 or something like that and we traded the pics to the Giants for Jezza. At the time Kelly left we'd just come off a Grand Final so I'm not worried about Jezza. Higgins and Dahl on long term contracts is another thing. The club has tried to justify the contracts by playing them when they shouldn't but Geelong weren't exactly blessed with small man strength either. Thank god for Stengle but do you think we could get a ******* ruckman though?

Easy one :

THE TIM KELLY TRADE
West Coast received: Tim Kelly, pick 52 (on-traded to Brisbane in pick swap), 2020 third-round pick (on-traded to Sydney in Tom Hickey deal and later consumed in matching for Errol Gulden)

Geelong received: Pick 14 (Cooper Stephens), pick 24 (on-traded to GC for Suns to draft Jeremy Sharp), pick 37 (on-traded to Adel in Josh Jenkins deal), 2020 first-round pick (used in Jeremy Cameron trade).

Essendon received: Pick 33 (pushed back to 38 at the draft for Nick Bryan), pick 57 (on-traded to Carlton in deal for Andrew Phillips).

West Coast lost: Picks 14, 24, 33, 2020 first-round pick

Geelong lost: Tim Kelly, Pick 57, 2020 third-round pick

Essendon lost: Pick 37, 52

In essence you got Stephens, yet to debut, Jenkins, gone and part of Cameron from the Kelly trade.

Can't say that's super value at this point, Cameron will be long term but right now 3 x first rounders don't appear to have regenerated the list.

It's not the Gibbs deal either. You have to remember that the dude didn't want to stay. It wasn't a 'list regeneration trade' it was 'lets see what we can get for a guy we've put two years into'. I think we've come out on top seeing as Stephens debuts this week and Kelly is struggling to get a kick in the West. We do need Stephens to kick on though as the cupboard is bare for mids for us.

I saw the Cats were favourites and I couldn't figure that one out. Green could get 900 touches.

Agreed, but what an opportunity it was.

Can't argue getting Cameron out of the deal was a bad move and we'll see how Stephens turns out, but even Cameron who is 29 was about pinching another one now, not in 4-5 years.

The Eagles are paying for the Kelly trade when they tried to get another flag and Adelaide the Gibbs trade when they tried to get back to the GF.

You gave up 13, 15 and 20 for him, that was the chance to rejuvenate the list, using them instead of getting Cameron.

I reckon Geelong were still winners in that trade (along with Sydney) by the fact of being able to get Jeremy Cameron; albeit they should have done better than what they have with a potentially a couple of misses in Jenkins and Stephens.

West Coast definitely would have expected more out of Kelly than they have got.

Not sure how Stephens is a miss. Don't think he played that badly against the Giants.
