Jarman for mine

Both ultra skilled players but Gray was ahighly skilled player in a highly skilled era, in a largish group of players who excel.

Jarman was the best of the best in his era, a time when the game was equal parts about physicality as it was skill level.

Essentially Jarman was in the top 1% of his era, not so sure Gray is quite at that level for his era.

- Five Showdown Medals (record holder)
Fair record, that!

agreed... fair record.... but, one club or two? ;)

#4 at Port Adelaide, #2 at Port Adelaide.... really?

You realise they are saying 4th in the games tally and 2nd for goals right?

I do realise that.

you do realise that Tim Evans, Scott Hodges et al are not considered by the facebook poster on the Port Adelaide goals list then?

or Russell Ebert, Greg Phillips etc are not considered on the games list?

So again, one club or two?

When discussing Port Adelaide history in AFL based discussions it's pretty obvious, even for the dim, that it's post 1997.

It's one club.

Jarman's premiership's get him over the line.
But bloody hell when ever Gray played against us it was him I was most nervous about.

Well if Booney is conceding then that's good enough for me.

FWIW, I though D. Jarman had the most exquisite foot skills of any player of my era and had the knack of making opposition players look like they're moving in slow motion around him, something that only Pendles rivals him for IMO.

Yeah that's why I went with D Jarman,

Imo was the most skillful player in the comp in the 90's...….Gray is great but not the most skillful in the comp.

Especially given 90's football was equal parts physicality, brute force and intimidation as it was about skills and tactics.

Gray's finishing ability is as good as anyone's, his calmness under extreme pressure is brilliant, his ability to dig deep and find something magical to get his team over the line is equally impressive, to be shortlisted as possibly the Powers greatest speaks in volumes, I simply couldn't pick an outright winner.

90's football was pretty much predominately 1v1 football, play fast, kick long, get it to the full forward who will kick a bag.

Skills and tactics my arse.

Yeah fair enough...… was it Rodney Eade and the flooding in the late 90's or was that 2000's.

I guess that's my point though is that Jarman was elite at what was a bit against trend in that era.

Its a great debate.
Jarman's skills left and right were elite.
Gray's elusiveness and finishing skills were pretty to watch.
Went through a flopping phase for a while, which wasn't great though.
