Is almost success like half pregnant, as in, no such thing?

Boon & other PA fans out there what's happened to Duursma this year? Seems to have had a fair drop off over the last 18 months or so... injury issues or just 4th year blues & he will bounce back?
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I think it's more his mind that's made of crepe paper, he's one of those players who can’t play with a niggle so is constantly sidelined.
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.

Had that lengthy knee lay off last year and a few niggles this year. Not long ago he played a very good game in the qualifying final against Geelong, I'm backing him in to get some continuity and regain his form.

Broke his collar bone in round 1, played against Hawthorn in round 2 and then missed a couple with injury, he's been the sub and in and out the side. To be fair he hasn't knocked the door down at SANFL level either, but given the Magpies form and constant player changes ( injuries all year on and off ) playing the link up role in the SANFL wouldn't be easy.

I think he'll bounce back but he's certainly been left behind by Rozee and Butters from the same draft, still think he's got plenty to offer.

Fair enough, he better get on the park soon and start stringing games together somehow if he wants to get a contract renewal, he's a big liability for Port at the moment.

So you’re saying there’s a chance? Well, I wouldn’t go that far however season 2022 still flickers for Port Adelaide after a 55 point win over the GWS Giants at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night. With Gold Coast taking down Richmond after the siren Port Adelaide remain 1 win out of the 8, albeit with a horror fortnight ahead.

An 8 goal to 2 first half setting up the win on the back of a best on ground performance from midfield sensation Connor Rozee. Rozee had some question marks over him in 2021 playing much of the year injured or forward his impact was minimal only occasionally having moments in games. Since moving into the midfield and resting forward in 2022 he’s become one of the more dynamic players in the competition. Career high numbers for possessions, clearances and inside 50’s showing his true worth is around the ball and that was no exception on Saturday night with his 24 touch, 4 goal, 5 tackle, 4 clearance game the clear stand out performance on the night. Behind that the spread for Port Adelaide was very even.

Every player on the park registered more than 10 touches, 15 players registered a clearance ( 50 gamer Drew led the way with 6 ) every player took 2 marks or more and only 3 failed to register a tackle. It was the most complete team effort of the year but we’ll temper that excitement by looking at the opposition. GWS mustered only 300 touches and 37 I50 going at 66% disposal efficiency. They were lost and nobody knew where they could be found. It was not the land of the Giants.

The game was won and lost in Port’s forward half, typically it’s our defensive zone locking sides in ( this punter bangs on about it literally all the time ) but it was a different look on Saturday night, 19 tackles inside 50 ( season average 10 ) locking the ball in before the ball made it’s way into our zone when it did though Aliir ( 14 intercept possessions ), Burton and DBJ ( 7 marks each ) repelled any attempted GWS attacks. DBJ in particular enjoying one if his better nights in a season where he hasn’t reached any great heights.

In the front half Sam Powell-Pepper relished in the high pressure goings on, Kane Farrell continues to send the ball beyond 50m with as much ease as anyone I have ever seen (along with 4 tackles I50 ), Georgiades had an almost night with 7 marks and 4 tackles, while Marshall continues to shine as the main man in attack. His 2 goals and 6 marks not his most productive night but once again he toiled all night, got some reward and brings other players into the game and his growth along with Rozee in the midfield are the highlights of season 2022 to date.

All this and I haven’t mention Butters who was solid on his return, some good touches from Gray and Wines and the tireless work of Travis Boak who, after a couple of quiet weeks worked his way into the game and Bergman who enjoyed his first solid game at AFL level this year while ex-GWS big man Jeremy Finlayson had a night out against his old team. It was a complete team effort.

Boon’s best - Rozee, Butters, Boak, Finlayson, Farrell, Aliir, Powell-Pepper
PAFC. Forever.

I found the 2nd half to be pretty disappointing. Port had them by the throat, should've really put them to the sword and buried them by a huge margin, especially with Davis going down. Ugly 3rd qtr.

Hearing strong rumour the game in Alice Springs this weekend against Melbourne could be moved. Due to COVID issues and flight issues. Not sure where to, but would think Melbourne, this certainly would not help Port as they were good chance to win in NT, but if it goes back to home game then Melbourne be unbackable favourites. Be interesting how this plays out.
