Didn't he run past the footy and clean someone up earlier this year?

Didn't run past anyone. He bumped someone high and got a game.

Didn't you say in an earlier post you'd think the same if someone else did it?

Players in the 70/80’s wouldn’t last long in todays game much like players today wouldn’t last long if they played in the 70/80’s.

Different players, different styles, different eras.

Ask the likes of Johnny Platten what he thinks...can't fault the AFL for protecting the head at all costs now we know what the damage is long term.

Protecting the head is everything now we know more about long term damages.
I’m all for DeGoey to be rubbed out for 5 or 6 to show all players the AFL is serious here.

My original comment was more about not being able to compare eras.

I know you all hate Collingwood with a passion and that's fine.
But some of your comments....like tried to kill him are ******* ridiculous.
I've acknowledged what he did by today's standards is wrong.
However, the player must expect contact in that situation and to avoid getting killed, protect himself.
Now, it wouldn't matter if a port bloke lined up a Collingwood bloke in the exact same situation, id still say the same thing.
Protect yourself at all times. He saw him coming, turn your body while giving the handball.
I've no idea how players survived in the 70's and 80's.
Oh wait yeah I do, they were taught to protect themselves in a 50/50 contest.
You jump to victim status pretty quick then. Pile on? Hardly. Most people calling you out for your black and white glasses.

Plenty of guys knocked out in thr 70/80s. They just had to deal with it and get up and play the next week.

Obviously we know so much more about head injuries now and rhe effect on thr 70/80/90s are coming through.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Not many protect themselves after they have disposed of the ball as usually the danger has subsided

Not that I wish injury or hurt on anyone, but I will laugh if a Collingwobble player gets knocked out because 'he didn't protect himself'.

As I have said previously if a Collingwood player is on the receiving end in that same situation id have zero empathy.
Love the pies but I also love the game and don't want to see any player knocked out from any team.

I was only watching a tiktok video of Gary Abletts biggest hits and bumps last night and it funnily was relevant to what Tiger Pie was saying.

A few of Abletts biggest hits was when we he would pick the ball up, dispose of it with a handball and then immediately raise his elbow. The amount of would be tacklers/bumpers who were an elbow to the face was surprisingly high.

Ablett for all his talent was a bit of a thug for sure and high elbow merchant.

Ablett, Lockett, Dermie, Matthew’s were all thugs but it was accepted/tolerated back then.
