When we were taken over by the Canadians in 2020 we became part of a global group, Miguel ( Mech Engineer ) is here for 6 months on a transfer program from Portugal. He supports Benfica and Port Adelaide. He was told. :D

TIME trials, long runs, three-hour sessions, weights, sweat, sun. They are all realities of an AFL pre-season.

But what else goes on in a player's pre-season campaign? And how does it differ for each individual player? What is the split in fitness and education? How involved are the coaches and how important is getting this time of the year right?

AFL.com.au spent last week inside Port Adelaide, having full access to the Power's training sessions, team meetings and coach preparations at Alberton Oval as the club gets set for 2023.

Through the eyes of youngster Josh Sinn, emerging star Todd Marshall and veteran ruckman Scott Lycett, here is an insight into what goes into a pre-season and how things evolve from the start of a career to the middle and then back end.

Finlayson injured an ankle at training and will have surgery. A poor run for his family.

SPP signs on until the end of 2025.

With his lady bride expecting their second child in as many years and just having brought a house it was unlikely a return to WA was on the cards. Good to see him in a good place off the field, it's showing on the field.

On the outer this time last year but he showed he wanted to be about the place with a solid season. Did really well when others weren't at the start of last year so a good result for both parties. But he's a wharfie scum though so i'm obliged to hate him. ;)
