Outscored Carlton and Richmond. Voss is the new Ross.

Even with the benefit of hindsight you get it wrong. That takes some doing.

Pickett gets 2 weeks and McAdam gets sent directly to the tribunal, what a joke.

Whilst I don’t disagree with you, the fact McAdam chose to bump instead of tackle for me is the difference.

Bump part of the game?

Pickett chose to leave the ground and launch

I said I don’t disagree, but the fact he could’ve tackled will be the difference he gets 3 not 2 and the fact Smith keep playing will be part of the outcome, again which I don’t agree with.

The penalty should reflect the action, not the outcome.

They both chose to bump not tackle. They both got the head. both victims played on. How it can be different penalties cause GWS decide to give a concussion test and WB didnt is laughable. Then add buddy also choosing to bump and getting the head and gets only 1 game?

Yeah right.

Franklin - Bumps, player is concussed - 1 week

Pickett - Bumps, player isn't assessed, isn't concussed but could have been - 2 weeks

McAdam - Bumps, player is assessed, isn't concussed but could have been - 3 weeks

It's easy to understand

I was confused by the decision till I watched the incidents in normal time, that actually made the difference in impact between Pickett's and McAdam's obvious to me. McAdam's is quite scary in real time and like a car crash.

Interesting discussion point at work yesterday....

Are we building AFL Players (humans in general) who are far too strong and fast for what the human body can handle being 'hit' by.

Thinking more in combat sports like MMA but guys are punching, kicking, bumping etc harder than ever before in history, but bones, the skull etc are still the same as they were 30 years ago.

Will it get to a point in say a sport like football where we cant have guys bumping other guys because the human body cant handle being hit by the strength and speed of the athletes we are building.

Hope that makes some form of sense.

I wonder if individual players will be held to account in future years for causing head trauma in their playing days. Will the AFL take the angle of "it wasn't the game that hurt him, it was the bump by player x".

McAdam should have got 2, Pickett 3. atleast the player McAdam hit actually had the ball.
